timing belt got shredded
well my b18cR motor got hella messed up yesterday. dont know what the heck happened but i went to pump 91 and then drove about 10 miles and then i heard this loud screeching noise around 45 mph. let it roll about 2-3 miles and then came a mad knocking sound so i killed the engine immediately. but i dont know how the hell the belt got shredded like that. right now i'm just hoping i didnt damage anything else. still waiting for the right tools from my friend to take off the belt but just wanted to show you guys.

do you have a full valve cover and plastic timing cover? maybe something fell inthere if you don't ive seen timing belts liek that and thats usually from sometrhing getting caught inside,
i bet you dropped a nut or a bolt down into the timing belt covers? you will have to take off the belts, if any, and the crank pully and lower timing belt cover, and look for any stray nuts of bolts.

There should be a metal flange on the crank pulley to keep the belt from walking out. It is obviously walking towards the front of the engine so this would make sense if this was missing.

screaching sound sounds like somthing cought or the tenstioner "mind the spelling" tightend up, knocking sound, the belt can get out of alignment and rub against the cover and that would tear it up,prob is it can also strech the belt, knocking..... hope you did not bend any valuves, it does not take alot..... only time will tell
holy **** i had that happen to me twice.know what it was????? well some how a crown bolt(valvecover bolt) got down in there and chewed to **** out of it.same spot as on your timing belt.

You didn't take the old timing belt off before you started trying to take out the pulley bolt did you? If you did, it would be out of time and you are likely to bend a valve.
If you left it on and the engine (including the cams) was just rotating because of the impact you are OK and it will be in time.
