Default Auto Trans Compatabilty

Picked up a daily driver, 89 LX auto, Ive already researched putting in an LS auto but that looks like mounts are an issue. So now I'm wondering if all single cam auto trans are the same? 92-95, 96-00 or do I have to stick to 88-91? Wanting to know what Im gonna need to look for. Id like to put a 96-00 dx motor and auto trans just for the fact that easy to come by, but OBDII and MPFI might be issues.

I know there isn't much info out there for this cause every one thinks converting to manual is the way to go, this is my commuter, so don't reply "Y not just convert to manual y0?"

thanks

Think u would actually save gas by converting manual though. IDk. ID go d16y7 or z6 if i were u, just drop in and use stock tranny. Although u might have a problem using a obd1 or obd2 ecu with an obd0 tranny because obd0 tranny has only one lockupsolenoid and the obd1 has two. I j ust wired one of them, and its working ok.

Gas mileage Isn't my concern at all. I got this car cause I was tired of buying premium and sitting in traffic with my GSR.. Its just not a daily driver friendly car anymore. Tranny...tranny...tranny is my biggest concern if I could get some real life info that would be great

OK so from gathered info, this is a semi conclusion, please chime in if you have a different variation.

OBD1 (or OBD2 if possible) long block and trans + the stock DPFI/ engine harness/ dizzy/ ecu + wire the trans celeniod accordingly

unless there is a OBD0 MPFI auto harness and ECU available????

OBD1 (or OBD2 if possible) long block/ trans/ MPFI/ OBD0 MPFI auto harness and ECU + wire the trans celeniod accordingly
