I'm trying to remove the windshield reservoir tank. It will not fit through the opening without removing the a/c compressor. I don't want to cut the reservoir tank but will if I have to. Is it safe to remove the compressor with the a/c still intact and charged? Car is a 95 VX. Thanks for any help!

If you remove bolts 1 @ 2 then you will lose pressure in a/c system most likely.
You can remove your compressor from bracket and tie out of the way if you were removing engine or something. You would be safe doing that.
But I think your problem is, if you are wanting to remove the resevoir to your windshield washer fluid then just separate the filler tube from the bottom holding tank. Take the tube up through the top and the tank under the car. This should answer your question.
That thing with the numbers is call an A/C drier. It is needed for your A/C system kind of like a filter.
Hope this helps.

That looks like the dryer, in which case removing those bolts (the ones labled 1 & 2) would vent the system.
Ok sorry reread post.
If you are wanting to take out your complete A/C system then I would find someone that will take your freon for free. Tell them you just want to discharge system and they can keep your freon for payment. If you know any shops then you should be able to get this done.
Then you can gut your complete a/c system.
If so I may want to buy some parts for the A/C system.

I was worried it may blow up if disconnected with the system charged

I did not notice that the tank seperates into 2 parts

Because he doesn't understand the concept of a track car.
And yes, OP, if you disconnect the hard lines from the drier/dessicator you will blow all the R134A or R12 out of your system and be breaking the law.
