what is an engine block made of?
i have a ton of scrap metal laying around my parents house. i am told this neeeds to be taken care of even though i think it looks really good. included in this mess are a couple of blown d15 engines that are no good. i am looking to find out what exactly the engine block is made of?
yeah that is why i am trying to figure out what exactly they are made of. if it is just straight aluminum they will go for around .70 a pound, but if they are mixed with somthing else then it will be a bout .01 a pound. i knew it was some kind of aluminum i just did not know if they where mixed. there is a big difference at the scrap yard

It's killing our bottom line at work. Im taking a stab in the dark and say the aluminum that they used to cast the block is a 5000 series.
