Almost bought a 06 SI...
well, i thuoght i had to wait until feb 07 to buy a si... but i found a 06 at a near by dealer... i drove it and i was not impressed by it... yeah i know its faster and better lookin then my 05 but i was going to put 5K down... with 5K in my 05 si, it would kick any stock 06 SIs ***.... so im going to pass on this one... still cant complain bc i still got the S2K and CBR in the garage...
No one on the planet seems to research and find out the truth about the 06 SI.
It's basically the Camaro of FF cars.
It's fast as hell straight line, potentially a very quick car, but the thing handles like a bag of bricks on the track.
Its center of gravity is too high, so even when the car's lowered the handling is always jeapordized by the center of gravity. I really doubt anyone's going to find a reasonable way to increase the handling potential.

What the SI is the best handling car in it's class and beats some expensive *** car's. I dont know who told you that plus its quick in a straight line but wont beat no wrx, or srt-4 that are priced in its class.
are you kidding me. These 06 Si's handle great. and is way more reliable then both wrx and the srt-4. you can run these things to 8600 rpm's all day. You might and i express might have one problem over the next couple years with it. and let some one put 5 grand into one of these things and your 05 will get smoked. Nice thread though.
so, if you have a CBR and a AP1 in the garage, why in sweet hell are you expecting any stock civic to feel fast, quick, etc?
Why not dump 5k in the S2000 and make the money worth your while?
-Civic = Gas mileage daily-driver
-S2000 = Weekend warrior, bra-popper
-CBR = Insane Speed, panty-dropper
see my logic?
OH, p.s. that cookie looks delish' y0

i beat a SC ep3 recently....
he was running a JRSC..didn't want to tell me how much boost or if it was the race setup but was sooo sure he was going to win...
well he lost, lost big time, lenghts!
so JRSC + intake + header + exhaust + miscelaneous parts is about 5000...
i have injen CAI, greddy evo2, hondata img, BC racing spec condenser(proven 4-5hp) but also helps with my electronics
, tein ss + edfc and hondata reflash...only mods which could help on the street...i dynoed @ 205whp and close to 150 tq...
went from a stop light...i won...then he wanted to go from a roll...went from a 35 roll in second and it was a raping...all this with me having full weight in the car + stereo eqipment.
this is how i made sense of my victory:
i figure with them ep3 putting down 140 or so stock...SC would add another 40 or so...they now putting down what an Si would put down stock = 180 then the supporting mods another 20? then they like 200 with a low redline etc etc....
so don't be too sure of ur 5000 in mods taking out an Si...stock Si yeah, maybe so...but even then I don't see it being a run over...
put 5000 into ur new Si then
PS u may have a turbo etc etc and can kill an Si...but this was my experience and the way i made sense of it.

Well I dont have an FG2 but from my friends point of view "he works at a local dealer" these cars are fast staright and in the curves. I have been thinking of getting one my self. Ive liked all the reviews all the magazines have done specially the last one from Sport compact car against a 2006 gti.
for the FG2
for the FG2
Hands down. The new Si is one of the best stock cars you can get for the price. Please you are buying a very reliable and durable car.

You're a ******* moron. Where did you do your "research" to determine the 06 Si 'handles like a bag of bricks'?
Heres what edmuds had to say about the 06 Si: "...circled the skid pad at 0.86g. But most impressive? This Honda averaged 67.5 mph in the slalom, essentially the same speed as the Dodge Viper SRT10's 67.6 mph"

I have to disagree with the statement that the SI cannot handle. I have driven mine around the Summit Point track and can report that the car drives just fine. My 1986 CRX SI has higher limits but the 06 SI is easier to drive (just don't lift throttle in a hard turn!) . My 1991 CRX SI has never been much of a handling car im not sure why it just never acted right on the road. But back to the point the 2006 SI may not be the fastes in a straight line but in the turns it really can shine IF you can drive. I just wish it was lighter!
