i pulled out my dip stick to check my oil and it smelled like gas can someone help

 

Your running rich.

 

Too much fuel and gas getting through piston rings possibly? Piston rings may be worn enough to let gas by easily. Just a few suggestions.

 

What's your timing set to?

 

i dont know what my timing is set to but could that be the problem specify what you mean and ill check

 

If your timing is advanced too far you'll run rich. If you don't have a Haynes manual for your car, get one, and then rent a timing light from AutoZone and time your car. Or just take it somewhere and have it done.

 

wouldnt oil be burning also? Cause i have the same problem, with gas in the oil, but it burns oil like crazy. TIA

 

Might wanna check for a stuck injector. When you turn off the motor the gas will leak out the injector and thru the rings, ending up in the oil.

Used to happen alot in carbed cars the float level would be set to hi and when the car is off it would do the same thing.
