stupid piece of crap catalytic converter
okay, so i go to put my test pipe on today and 3 problems occured: the 3 bolts connecting the mid pipe to the rear flange
they are so rusted and tight GOD i even used my biggest breaker bar and ended up stripping one of them. the 2 bolts on the front flange with the spring were no problem at all with a little muscle. but the 3 bolts in the back do NOT want to come off. so im going to go over to my friends house, he has air gun, gonna try to get them off there, but i seriously doubt it will work, itll probably just end up breaking my wrist, so i guess im just gonna have to cut them off
has anyone had this problem before? how'd you fix it? hit me back soon, cause im gonna piece outta here to goto his house in a few hours after i calm down. im so frickin mad i could kill Honda for using such lame bolts
peace,
rob

yes...i pulled off my whole exhaust system...laid it out...put on my 6 foot breaker bar...that's right, 6 foot...and got them off with that...but yes they are HELLLLL
DAMN! 6 FOOT? i used my 3 footer and stripped one of the bolts
how did you go about getting your exhaust off? wouldnt it be a bitch without a lift?

Try some lubricants or penitrants. They might help. Also, try hitting the bar with the hammer--the sudden impact of the hit might jolt them loose. BTW, are you sure your turning them in the right directions? I made that stupid mistake once.
I used hella WD-40, and i did try hitting the bolts with my tire iron, but it just ended up stripping it even more.. and yes im pretty sure im turning them the right way... counterclockwise.. im hoping when i goto my friends house he has a bigger jack so i can get a bigger break bar under there, no muffler shops will do it either because its "illegal" to remove it, or something really dumb and stupid like that.
the exhaust is pretty easy to get off...like 4 or 5 hangers...them rubber things...not too bad...
also, home depot has some bolt penetrant...made specifically for losening bolts...try that stuff...

we used a good ol hacksaw cus we stipped em. took some work, a little muscle but it got done. that was on my friends 4g. on his brothers 4g lude we just had to use a little bolt penatrant and a lot-o-muscle.
Hmm I think you can apply a couple thousand lb-ft with a 6-foot breaker bar.
Make sure when you install it, that you use some anti-seeze (sp?) compound so that when you wnat to change it again, you won't have this problem.
That's what i did. Everytime i want to install my test pipe, the bolts are easy to take off and put back on.
Just a suggestion.

welp i did finally get the bolts off.. here's a trick u all should love to know
i put a regular breaker bar, with a nother one foot cheater bar on the bolts.. then used my hydrolic jack and jacked the bar up until the nuts broke, then used my 3 foot bar and got them off by hand. it was pretty easy. hope that trick comes in handy one day
