Default Rattle....need help

Just finished a swap and have a rettle coming from shifter linkage area. A b16b into a 99 ex. It rattles in mid to high rpm ranges. If i hold shifter to one side or the other while driving the rattle stops. Any ideas please let me know.

Did you use any stock motor mounts?

He said it was because of the stock motor mounts. He got aftermarkets and now there is no problem. Obviously make sure that's your problem though; motor mounts are expensive.

Motor mounts huh? That sucks...any others feel free to chime in. DOnt want to have to buy motor mounts if i dont have to. Hope its nothing stupid like my linkage is resting on my exhaust. Could that be it?

If you want to pull that motor right out again and want to eliminate a possibility get some energy suspension motor mount inserts. For the price, I hear they are worth it.

Is it a short shifter by any chance? Could just be it touching the exhaust and could be fixed easily by any exhaust shop...I would def. check into it more before buying new mounts

yeah it is a short shifter...i was thinking it might be that. when the swap was finished the header amd the cat didnt line up so i took it to midas and had them cut and weld it..now the rattle is there. wasnt able to tell before cause i was running an open cat to the shop so i couldnt hear much of anything but i will go ahead and blame them for now.

thanks for all replys
