Swap is a OBD-1 JDM B16A going into a 1995 civic cx hatch, we ran into a few wiring problems with differences between the engines.


B16 manifold with vacuum line on throttle body. Where does this go?


Old CX Manifold with sensor on top of throttle body, looking at B16 manifold, there is no sensor, where does this left over plug go? is it necessary?

Empty plug at back of motor above oil filter, no plug on stock CX harness, what plugs in here/what sensor is this?

awesome, vacuum line is plugged, knock sensor has been eliminated(chipped ecu). although for the map sensor, where is this on the b16a? I cant seem to find it anywhere.

the sensor on top of the t/b is your map sensor. the jdm b16 don't have them there (atleast mine doesn't). you will have to get a external one that mounts to the firewall. earlier civics like 92-93 have them, then it will clip right on. as for the vacuum line on top of the t/b, not sure, never plugged anything to mine and i've been running for a year now w/no problems.

 

try this:

remove the map sensor from your old tb, run a peice of vacuum hose from the nipple on the sensor to your intake manifold (make sure to secure the hose to the sensor some how...ziptie or something), plug in your map sensor using factory plug and secure it so it doesnt just dangle...


mine is set up similar to that and i have no problems.

so it was my car were working on, posting from his place.
thats exactly what we did with the map sensor, got everything going, car idled at 2500and its throwing a code(s).
since it was late so we packed it in for the night and we'll continue it tomorrow to fix our problems.

* anyone have problems matchiung up the jdm exhaust manifold to the stock cat?? the flanges?? didnt line up whatsoever

 

jump the code and update us.

 

so the codes were the 2 vtec, ELD, and the traction control
and since i dont have traction, it doesnt matter

cleaned up the idle valve(forget name) at the back of the IM, and found a vaccuum hose with a crack, so we replaced that.
idle slowly went down to about 800 and purrs like a kitten.
the car drives well, but i have to wait till monday before i can hook up the vtec because we need pins for the ecu side.
on tuesday i will be getting the exhaust chopped off then realigned and welded back on so i wont have the small leak or raspyness.

ive read that once the vtec is hooked up, the ELD will go away as well

 

if you gonna get the exhaust re-done might as well get a bigger piping like 2 1/4. as for the map sensor and vacumm line you can do like stated above, but id be on the sfe side and just get a LS throttle body from a 94-95 integra and swap it over and run it like original.

 

it was the idle air control valve and the intake air temp sensor that we cleaned up(since they were both kinda dirty) so we just cleaned em up and put them back in and it seems to be idleing a bit better now
seems like the only things we have to fix is running the wires for the vtec(to eliminate the 2 vtec and the eld) and then fix up that exhaust then it should be good to go.as for the knock sensor, its running a chipped p28, so the knock sensor was eliminated.
car runs fine other than that tho, map sensor got tucked away under the throttle body for the time being and seems to be working fine
