Car comes out of gear...
well when im driving i can take the car out of gear just by tugging on it slightly and i dont even have to use the clutch. the clutch is really soft as well. it doesnt happen all the time but it happens in stop and go traffic a lot. I think it might be the clutch going but i've read that it might just be time for a new transmission?
If the car pops out of gear on its own, then the transmission is hosed. If not, it's at least "fine for now". How's the fluid look? How much metal is in it? (Yeah, that means "change it and look at it.")
If the clutch "feels odd", it may be going. Or it may need adjustment. Try adjusting and see how that feels.

it doesnt do it on its own, it does it if i nudge it a little bit. the fluid was drained and filled last sat and i put 10w-30 in it. it had syncromesh friction modified in it. i dont know if switching oils will cause it to have this problem ?????? no shavings that i could visably see.

Well, it's probably OK. If it started doing this shortly after you last changed the oil, change back to regular motor oil and see if it improves.
Regardless, it's "OK for now". When it pops out of gear on its own is when it really needs a rebuild. If you're the type of person who likes to rebuild things when they're getting tired but when they're still useable, you might consider tearing into the trans.

well its got regular 10w-30 in it right now but it had the syncromesh friction modified, so what im asking is should i switch back the syncromesh?
