Default Question, 92 civic about A/C.

I have a question it might be a dumb question but i searched the archives and only found people with problems with A/cs not mentioning the years and what not. Mainly when i got my car it didnt have AC (not sure if owner took it out or it just didnt have). and lately we have had a big heat wave in cali 100-105s in my city and my civic dont have AC. Would it be possible for me to hook up ac in my civic? it has a b16a (i hear i loose power.. but being nice and cold on hot days is better then the little power loss to me ) . on the dash from the stock stuff it has a AC button, but not sure if b16s came with ac stock etc. or if i would have to get some kinda kit to put it on? if ne one can help that would be awsome thanks.

I dont think it would be that expensive, if you shop around for your parts. Check on ebay, junkyards, and stuff. It is possible. I am sure there is a kit you could buy, but it would cost more, and its probably a dealership thing

there is tons of threads on this topic, in the recent and archives (trust me i should know). back to the question at hand

no it will not be expensive. you need a r134 system, it will work with your b16 because it works for mine. you will also need 1 of 2 brackets. the del sol's (part # 38930-P54-000) or the crv bracket (part # 38930-P7J-000) so they can work with the d series compressor. the b series compressor will not work with the a/c lines.
it is a pretty easy to install, if your not that handy get a friend to help, that's how easy it will be.

i picked up mine for $350 from this yard out in ohio, and that was everything i needed for the install, here's the info
discovery auto parts
1.888.858.5711

they salvage all honda/acura parts!

*edit - $350 shipping was included.*

the number i posted, they will sell you whole complete kit. comes w/lines, dryer, condensor, evaporator, etc. the only thing you will need for it to work on the b-series is one of the two brackets i posted up. they are both dealer items(unless you find one on ebay or something) and the crv is the cheapest of the 2.

I sold my complete AC system for $150 (compressor, condensor, under dash box, and all AC lines) then charged the guy $250 for install. I think he paid another $45 to get it recharged
