Default So i'm driving..

Yesterday as I left work my car felt a little sluggish and would accelerate as normally, a few minutes later the CEL light came on so I pulled over and popped the hood and....the Spark Plug wire popped out somehow. plugged it back it and the CEL lights still on not blinking or anything just on, Car has no mods what so ever. It's a 97 SE. Anyway I can clear it?

Unplug the battery for 60 sec. & see if that works for you. Im not sure if that would have caused a CEL tho..

It would cause a misfire cyl #x code.

If you disconnect the battery, I hope you have the radio code (stock radio). There should be a fuse you can pull, to clear codes, without having to enter the radio code, but I'm not sure which fuse it is for your model Accord. Check the FAQ, at the top of the Accord page. I'm sure it will tell you which fuse to pull. Good luck, and Happy Hondaing

Dont clear the check engine light until you get the code, it may be a generic code so go to autozone and get it checked out, also if you do a couple to a few more drive cycles with no repeat then the light will go off by itself, check it out yo. A misfire code will be P0300 seies due to the plug wire popping off, where does this wire go, into the head cover (valve cover) did it pop up and away from the spark plug, what style is it.

Thanks for all the replys. Took it to my mechanic, since the battery thing didn't work. He cleared the code for me for 20.00. Was gonna charge me 65.00 but talked him down. Anyway the car runs normally now. And the CEL hasn't come up again.

thats a shitty mechanic. $20 to plug something into your car to make something go away that will come back shortly. hope you have another $20!

dude mine has popped a couple of times and so has my boys and all we do is jump the cable to read the code and disconnect the jumper and when we turn the car on everytime it goes away. and you dont need a code for the 97 radio stock when unplugging the battery we've messed around with many of them and never required a code for them.
