miles on a full tank 5th gen?
hello all! I've been wondering how many miles you are all getting average on a full tank of gas for your fifth gen? I'm getting about 340 miles and these are all highway miles. no city driving.
im not lying. I just averaged 33mpg in my 98 base SS. I was crossing a navajo indian reservation so i had to follow the 65mph speed limit for about 180 miles. after that it was 79mph on the freeway till i filled up. it was like 410 miles on the trip odometer, and i put in around 12 gallons. I couldnt believe it. and that was the A/C blasting the entire time. I love hondas

I get 320 miles from full to when the light turns on, so I'm sure it can go more. This is on 90% highway driving at 80mph.
It's not too bad, if you changed your gear ratio for the 5th gear, you could obtain better economy

Well I've only had my car for about a month or 2 now and I still like to get into vtec. Right now i'm at 240 something and probably still have another 20-40+ miles left in it. If it gets that high, it'll be a record for me.
ok, so im not crazy. I'm averaging about the same. Does anyone think if I change the fuel filter and the oxygen sensors would give me more miles? Thanks to everyone that replied!

If your car hasn't had the fuel filter replaced, I'd say go for it. I don't know about the oxygen sensor though. Change your spark plugs if they need it, make sure your air filter is clean and make sure your tires are at the recommended tire pressure. Use cruise control as well. You should do a little better.

I can always get 330-360 easily before I fill up in mixed driving, the most i've ever needed to fill up was just over 13 gal. the tank is supposed to hold 15.9 gallons so I think the warning light comes on a little early on these cars.
one day I'd like to have a gallon of gas in the trunk and just see how far it'll go before it quits.

i had always wonder that. i have taken my car to almost E (empty)(not recomandable) and i fill it up with 12 or 13 gallons for most of times.
Do we have a reserve tank? by the way my car is a 5gen...

i get around 320 between refills of ~13 gal. 85% highway, vtec once in a blue moon.
when I got to san diego I was getting about 17-18 mpg, thats before new fuel filter, plugs, wires, and rebuild.
