Default 98 civic auto-manual swap question:: NEED TO SWAP STARTERS?

i just did an auto-manual swap, the guy said you dont need to swap the starters cuz they're practically the same.

now my car wont start.

i just tested the battery it is PERFECT.

the car just turns on, clicks once and nothing happens

are auto and manual starters different on 96-00 civics?

as far as i know, for a 92-25 civic a manual starter and auto starters are different. I did a swap too and had to get a manual starter as an auto one didn't work. I'm pretty sure this applies the same for 96-00 models but i'm not positive.

I just did a auto to manual conversion on my 94 Civic. The automatic trans starter is physically different and both bolts will not fit on the manual transmission. Electrically they both function the same.

Can it possibly be the main relay?

Do you have a manual starter in there?

Auto and manual are different. You could see it right away just looking at it. You need a manual. If you drove your car with the auto one then more then likely you dont have the auto one unless if its ghetto rigged up. Try taking it out (if you know how) and get it tested at autozone.
