alright so im shopping for my new toy to tinker with and came along a
silver civic 2000 5 speed its a cx i believe and has 165000 miles so the guy whos selling it works at an auto dealership as a mechanic names Paco
anyway says it runs strong nothing wrong with it changed out the speakers with alpines and got a cat back exhaust from greddy its not...
he wants 2800 for it i heard it run and doesnt seem to be making any odd sounds drove it around seemed to drive ok as well so im wondering
people sell these for like 4500 and seems a little shady like hes hiding something
what do you guys think give me all oppinions

 

My car has 140XXX miles and it's a 92. I also bought mine from a mechanic, 2 days later the motor gave out and to this day I still find things wrong with the car. I also found out that he had ran it off the road twice and after gutting the hatch I can see that they put new quarter panels in. Some mechanic

I'm not trying to tell you to look for another car just because of my horrible experience, i'm just trying to say be careful. Sounds like he's selling it like that because of the mileage, but check to see if he removed the bulb from the check engine light, ask some of his co-workers if he had ever been involved in an accident with that car, car fax report, etc.

 

just the shell is worth 2800 ....... go for it be for it is sold !!!!!!!!

 

Do a search on KBB.com for it, they are not worth gold anymore.

 

If he's being shady about selling the car to you for $2800. i dont think you should buy it something is bound to happen to it. hopfully later then sooner in your case

 

i know paco its worth the money.

I'm with this guy, check the body of the shell. If it's in good shape and worth the 2,800 then buy it. You can always buy the motor that's in it for cheap anyways if the motor that's in there now craps out, and you would still pay a lot less than most people buys that car for. Or you could even upgrade your engine too!

 

I would buy it anyways, even if the motor craps out ur still ahead of hte game....
