Which is recommended for a stock D16Z6 '95 EX (EJ1), red or green antifreeze?
I searched, couldn't find anything about this here :-\
Right now I'm running either/or antifreeze (it's like a mix) that the bodyshop put in there when I had my car fixed after I hit a deer....so I can only add green to that..but I hate that half *** ****, so I'ma flush the system, just not sure if I should put red or green in...I use red in my '01 gti and '00 jetta, but since it's older I'm nto sure what I should use..

if you know a honda tech he'll prolly give you some, they have *** loads of extra from warr. flushes. the honda coolant is like a dark blue/green/teal color.

red's definately NOT just for GM products
I don't have an owners manual and I'm pretty sure it's green as well...
Anybody know for sure?

that's what honda recommends? De-ionized dark blue
I've never even heard of dark blue O.o
Is it 100% antifreeze or do I put a 50/50 ratio? What's the compacity of the system if it is 50/50?
I've never delt with dark blue antifreeze, I've never even seen it nor heard of it before...

Any off the shelf 50/50 yellow mix will work. You dont need to spend the money on the honda coolant, and never run 100% antifreese.
For best results use straight water and 1 bottle of water wetter. (only use if you dont drive your car in the winter)

That's what I was going to do, prestone in the yellow jug green anti-freeze, take a gallon milk jug, fill it half antifreeze, half water, and fill it up in interavals like that
But nobody's given me a straight answer
I got two for green....two for BLUE, wtf is de-ionized blue...
I live in NY, so I have to put a 50/50 mix in there, and since the guy that fixed it at teh bodyshop put this half *** no-name brand either/or (it's an anti-freeze taht can be used in both green/red recommended cars) I just wanna flush the system and put a regular anti-freeze in there...

1.) your engine takes regular green coolant. If it has half-and-half green and red, it's destroying things as the chemical composition of the red (Dex Cool) and the green (Glycol) combine under heat and pressure to make sodium silicate which is a poopy looking sludge that corrodes and jams up every part of your cooling system.
2.) about a year ago, Honda came out with this "de-ionized" blue coolant. Basically, it's normal **** with blue coloring instead of green and it's marketed so Honda can make money off of idiots who think it helps things. Don't use it unless you want to waste money.
3.) your 2000 and 2001 Volkswagens don't use the red stuff either, they are supposed to be using yellow/clear G-05-based coolant. Luckily for you, G-05 mixes well with the red stuff so you probably haven't hurt anything by being your typical, mentally retarded self.
4.) flush your Civic and do a normal 50/50 mix of the green **** and stop being a dumbass. No Honda on the market uses anything other than regular green or Honda blue, chatch. How long have you worked on cars?

First of all, thank you for your help on the answers in stone..
second of all, I didn't just "add red antifreeze to my VW's" - so don't jump the expletive to conclusions, I flushed the system, completely, then switched over to red, I didn't just dump red in there...I know i might seem dumb but I'm not dumb enough to throw different antifreezes around and hope for the best...
If you don't believe me, call up VW, you can see that it does come with green/yellow/whatever stock on a 00-01, but you can flush the system and put red in there and it works perfectly fine - it MUST, I've done it to both my cars, I didn't just add the red though, I completely flushed the system, ran water w/ a hose through it, the works...but yes, you can use red antifreeze in a 00-01 VW
My engine doesn't have half red and half green right now, it's some ******* universal **** that the body shop put in there after putting in the new radiator (because my car was damaged due to me hitting a deer), that if you want to add to it, you can add GREEN anti-freeze in it, but if you added it to a system that was running red anti-freeze but wasn't flushed, it won't hurt anything, I just don't like the idea of it running half *** anti-freeze in the system, rather flush it all otu and fill it w/ red or green, none of this no-name brand universal ****...
So asside from u jumping to conclusions about me just dumping red antifreeze into a car that comes with green antifreeze stock, thanks for ur help

2) Again you are right, Honda was one of the last car makers to jump on the "long life" anitfreeze band wagon, and you will only find this stuff in 2005+ models from the factory. If you own anything older you are throwing your money away, so just use the green with a 50/50 mix
3) You are mostly correct, for several years now VW/Audi has been using a pink/red coolant called G-12, it is very similar to GO-5.
4)

Now to Clarify a few things:
Nearly every car maker has their own "long life" coolant these days, and many are different. the colors are typically dies to help distinguish between them
Plain jane green coolant: the standard cooland for nearly all vehicles up to about 6 years ago, it is also commonly refered to as ethaline glycol or EG, and you guessed it, its a glycol based antifreeze. When any vehicle does not have a warning label or "use special coolant" sticker you are safe most of the time with green (keyword being most)
Toyota: One of the first companies to use the "long life" concept, the coolant is red, it is glycol based and is compatable with green
GM: remember the word DEX-Cool, this stuff is crap, gm has had more lawsuits on this than anything else in the last decade. It is not red, but orange or pink in color (it tends to be more pink as a factory fill than on the gm parts shelf), it is a silicate free antifreeze and is NOT compatable with green. Daewoo/chevy aveo and chevy equinox have an additive with makes it look green/blue and it smells BAD.
Mopar (chrysler/dodge): this stuff is pink, it is GO-5 based and is similar to any other GO-5 based coolant which many companies use now. Which is why autozone will sell bolttles of coolant that will work in many different makes of car.
BMW: I'm not too sure about the brand new ones but they typically use green coolant
Mercedes: The first company to use an extended life coolant and I believe it too is GO-5 based, but I have never seen an ill results from adding green to the system.
Ford: GO-5, thats all you need to know, its **** yellow, most of the newer fords use straight up GO-5 coolant, not some special ford flavor (a select few ford vehicles used to have an additive put in it)
Honda: don't know much about it other than it is blue and is extended life (I quit that job just as we started to see this in our shop)
Volvo: don't know much about this stuff either, it is green/blue, and we just used a "global" antifreeze (the Global antifreeze is made by Peak and the claim that you can add it to any make, any model, any color, I don't know how it is possible, but I still wouldn't recommend it for DEX-Cool systems)
