Default what causes the "back up system" to turn on?

i have a 92 civic cx hatch with a freshly installed 90b18a1/95 gsr 5 speed.. i have had three ecus hooked up and my check engine lite comes on with each ecu after i start the car.. when i jump the harness to make the mil blink, it stays steady.. the book says to replace the ecu.. i've been through two pr4 and now am on a p75.. the only thing i can think it could be is the ecu were meant for automatics, or the wiring......... it runs alright for a few seconds, the lite comes on, the idle goes up a little bit and after about thirty seconds the motor revs on its own..
i need some good knowledge and experience here...

Last thing i like to do when diagnosing a problem is rule out the ecu. Test the circuit going to the MIL. The easiest way to do that would be unplug the ecu and turn the key on. Obviously if it's still on, then you have a serious problem. Otherwise we're going to assume that circuit is good. You can further test it by finding the wire comming out of the ecu that goes to the mil, disconnect the ecu plugs, and ground that wire and the mil should light up with the key on.

I'd take a good guess that you just don't have the right computer. Otherwise go to autozone and have them hook it to a scanner and see what the code is and get back to us.

would any wire ground out and cause this or would it have to be a specific functioning wire..

i bought the car as a shell and there could be a cut wire anywhere..

thanks for that.... anyone else wanna give it a shot?
