Default how shorter does my shiftlink need to be???

i have have a 91 crx hf
and i put a b18a1 in it
i still have to put my shift link in
but i was wondering how much shorter does it have to be
i know i saw this somewhere . it gave me the inches of how much shorter it needs to be
i don't have the stock shiftlink for the crx
i only have the one from the 91 ls for the b18a1
so does any one know how much shorter it needs to be
or can someone check there shift like to tell me how long there is and then i'll see how long mine is and cut it down to the rite size

thanks for any help

STEVE

I've seen many different lengths. I installed a jdm b16a from a 90 integra and had to cut the linkage a full 3 inches. The way I determined this was to bolt the shifter up and measure how much too long it was at the transmission. This was dsdone with the car in neutral. I don't think this makres any difference but I was also converting from auto to manual in a 91 Civic DX.

it would depend on the mounts you used. It would no be very hard to do it once the motor is installed

i just shortened and welded mine yesterday , and i cut out closer too, 2.5 inches, i tried it at 2 3/8 and found it was still a little long. (95ls into 91 dx with innovative mounts)...
good luck

I've also seen some people that cut and weld a nut and bolt on so that its adjustable...I couldnt tell you how to do it but i know there are some threads floating around here somewhere...

Salvage title, due to rearended by a freight train or something similar in mass. It was then hammered back out and loaded full of bondo, ha ha.

um ya pretty much. Shell = unibody and unibody = shell. and 1+1 = 2. What does that have to do with shift linkage?

uhm i wonder how that would work

i always thot that the link would twist and **** and haveing a nut and a bolt wouldn't make it shift or something

but it would be nice to know how that is done

but i am gonna go for the 2 3/8 and see if that works
my b18a1 came out of a 90 91 ls

I have cheapo (I think) HCP copies.....

I shortened my linkage 3" and it's not enough. When I have time I'm taking another 1/2" out at least.

Everyone has a different answer to this
