Default What RPM/gear/speed do you cruise at?

What RPM/gear/speed do you cruise at on the highway? This is my first year riding and I'm still getting used to the fact that a sport bike spins twice as fast as a car. On long trips I feel comfortable at around 7k, at around 65mph. Don't remember what gear though. Is that too high to sustain for long periods? What about you guys...and girls ?

gotta mention what bike it is.... I'm assuming a 600cc i4. My superhawk with a 9.5k redline I cruise in 6th at about 4000rpm at about 80-85. Gear is so tall that I can vary speeds easily and rpms stay the same

hmm, i feel comfy doing 70-75 in 6th on my F2. which is, i'm guessing, 5000 ish rpm.

granted i should probably be in 5th in case i need to accelerate to safety, it's just that the bike is so vibraty that the less rpm's the better...

I think I'm usually at 5k, in 5th? It's been a while since I've been on the highway. I don't usually go into 6th unless I know I'm gonna be cruising for a looooooooooooong time, which I try to not do. 15/41 gearing.

are your ears still ringing? mine at WOT is ******* loud as ****. and yeah liter v-twins ftw. in 6th at 4000 I can easily accelerate. granted if I really wanna pass someone fast I'll drop a gear or two depending on the situation and how quickly I wanna get by

it was pretty damn loud. i don't know what exhaust he had on it (short double barrels) but it sounded great. what was amazing was that i could feel the blast of wind rushing by me (wind or exhaust fumes?) from a good 30 feet away behind the bike.

?

I'm usually in 6th @ 75mph, which puts me right at 6k rpms. Few spurts at 90mph+ when the roads are empty.

what's 500RPM? How about I hit the roads right now and get an exact reading?

on my RC with -1/+1 gearing i'm at about 4500 in 6th while on the freeway. I think that's about 70 mph.
Otherwise when just cruising around town and what not i'm at about 3500 rpms in whatever gear gets that done. Otherwise i'm very loud.

6000 rpms, 75 mph exactly....i speed up for corners where im generally around 9,000 rpms...don't knw what the speedo reads at that speed, you shouldn't be looking at speedo anyway.

My bike tops out at 55 so there's not much highway riding to it.

i usually cruise at around 6k rpm in 5th gear and by then i'm already going about 75-80 on my sv650. i dunno, the vtwin is so loud sometimes that i think i'm over revving in each gear.

I can see most of you guys havent regeared your bikes... my bike is high rpm buzzer at freeway speeds. The price you pay I guess.
