Removing head
My brother-in-law got an 02 rsx and it has bent valves, because the idiot that had it b4 him over reved it. Were planning on sending it to shop have them put the new valvetrain in, but were gonna take the head out ourselves. The only thing is there are no haynes manuals that I can find, and no posts on removing the head on this car. Can anybody give me any help on how to remove the head and torque specs on the engine and everything I would need to take it out and put it back in and work still?
it is def possible with the engine in the car. i have done it about 4 times now. the hardest part is getting the timing chain cover case off not very much room.....
valve cover off, manifold off

cams out

rocker assembly out

head off, ARP studs installed

SORRY TO HEAR THAT I AM A TECH AT ACURA AND I SEE A LOT OF RSX WITH BENT VALVES. I FOUND OUT THE BEST WAY TO DO IT THE WAY I DO IT FOR CUSTOMERS IS I DROP THE MOTOR/TRANNY AND SUBFRAME AS ONE. WITH THE MOTOR OUT IST'S A WHOLE LOT EASIER TO SET THE TIMING CHAIN AND ADJUST THE VALVES OUT OF THE CAR. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO DROP THE MOTOR YOU CAN DO IT IN BUT ITS A LOT HARDER TO DO SO. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE CRANK RING (RELUCTOR RING) THE RIGHT WAY IT SAYS OUT. HAD A SHOP DO THE HEAD AND PUT THE RING ON WRONG AND HAD TO FIGURE IT OUT. SAVE THE TIME ANS HASSEL. GOOD LUCK EMAIL ME FOR ANY INFO.
yeah it's def easier out of the car IF....you have a lift and all available tools. i do all my work in my driveway(including type r tranny swap) and i was not about to drop the motor out of the car. the only part that is harder is the timing chain cover, and that takes like an extra 20 mins in the car, big deal....
