so i was trying to replace an axle and the frigging axle is stuck in the hub, i got the drivers side out, but the psnger side won't go out any further..
so heres my problem, like a dumbass i used a metal hammer and mushroomed the top a little, nothing nuts, but now the end of the axle is flushed kinda with the hub, and there presents the problem
so i tried using a grade 10 bolt and a hammer, but its just too akward.. i don't have a lsedge hammer, but whats the smartest, easy thing to do here
any hips ?

you're gonna need to push the axle back thru and file down the mushroomed area, and the try to get the nut back on and then hit it. or use an air chisel and get it out. or cut the boot and take the axle apart and take the hub apart and take it and get it pressed out. sucks, same **** that happened to my brothers car. be careful if u take it to get it pressed, make sure they dont bend anything
Quick question, is the opposite end of the stuck axle still plugged into the transmission?
If so, the axle snout will only back out of the hub so far before it binds in the inner CV joint on the transmission. Make sure the Axle has room to be pressed backwards out of the hub/knuckle...
If the transmission side of the axle is already unplugged & not backing up against anything, just try using a 1/2" drive rachet extension as a punch. It should be long enough to grip easily while you bang on it with a hammer. It's also forged steel, so it should stand up to the abuse...

As for hammers, if you don't wanna use a metal hammer again, you can use plastic (I'd choose a sand-filled) hammers.
