Hey guys,

A friend of mine just bought a shitbox 1993 Prelude. You know the type, rusted out wheel wells, ratty interior, dings everywhere, etc. It's been sitting outside for a year, that probably didn't help. My friend is probably an idiot.

We don't know squat about Preludes. I bet you guys know more. He autocrosses, or something, and wants to know the widest wheels available that fit, and what offset to get. It looks like the 15x8 or 15x8.5 market is non-existant in 4x114.3.

How about a 16x8, 17x8 or 17x8.5? Looks like Toyo RA1's come in a 245/45R16 and are recommended on 16x7, 16x8 or 16x9 wheels. Would that fit front/rear?

What kind of offsets do people run on wheels on this thing? Fender rolling isn't a problem... might need a tetanus shot first.

I believe you can find the SSR Competition wheels in 15x8.

A good value wheel is the Drag DR16 in 15x7 +40 and 13lbs each. I bought a set for $365 shipped.

 

Has anyone here squeezed 245's on the 4th gens yet? Front and rear? What offset?

 

Rota Slipstreams come in 16 x 8.0 +48 4h/5h x 100/114.3 -- that looks like a winner.

What offset? Do you rub at all? Seems like my friend might start with the +48 and try 5mm spacers if they're needed.

didn't seem to rub in the touge showdown round 2 300 class from bmi's "super battle" video. the drivers loved the car's handling as well...didn't understeer as badly as other ff's.

agree

i should add that it has at least 3 degrees of negative camber in the front and 1.7 in the rear (from an Options video circa late 90's)

suspension is zeal b6 18k in the front and 12k in the rear


i don't know if jun auto mechanics removed the inner wheel well lining, modified any suspension and/or body parts, or how many mm they lowered the car

you want to stay around a +45 to +38 offset. With +45 with 15" wheels, I have to run a 3mm spacer to clear the big brake calipers.

245s will fit, you may not be able to go lock to lock without a little rub, but they will work, the biggest thing to worry about is how it changes your gearing.
