Car Stalled out in the Rain. I have a AEM cold air intake
It was just storming like a ***** and I was only doing about 25 mph and my car stalled out on me. So i coasted into a paring lot and waited for it to stop raining so hard. Tryed to start the car back up and it wouldn't start with out me giving it gas. Tapped the gas and the thing fired right up.
And no I didn't drive into any puddles but it was raining very hard out though.
I know there is no where to put a by-pass valve on these cold air intakes for the 06 Si's but is there anything else i can do so my car doesn't end up hydro locking one day. I really do not want this to happen again.

The only way for it to stall in that case is if the motor had sucked up water. Not relly much advice to give except that I wouldnt get a CAI in rainy, low lying areas.
Not sure why so many choose CAI...Yes it gives you a few HP's, but is it worth damaging the car? Plus I owned one a long time ago and cleaning that thing was a Bit@h!

Sounds like its too late...
Take it in for a compression/leakdown, then call your insurance company since the CAI will prevent Honda from giving you an engine

get the injen hydroshield. it prevents dust from getting in and is water RESISTENT. not waterproof. but it will help keep some of the moisture out. from what i heard it isnt too expensive, and since no bypass valve is out for it, dont have many options.

unless you submerged the filter there is no way on gods green earth water got up into your engine......the AEM setup leaves the maf sensor exposed....water could have gotten on it.....

Thats all you need to keep this from happening. Repels water like Rain-X on a windshield.
Heres a link to find the size you need. Click Here

measure the filter and get one of injen hydrosocks, they are awesome. http://www.optauto.com carries them.
showstoppersusa.com has them i think. i installed my CAI on my si tonight and man, talk about a difference like whoa! the intake was a better buy than the damn evo2 exhaust! so much louder and sounds so damn mean. u must have hit one hell of a puddle because my filter sits behind the fog light housing and underneath it is the splash guard. get the hydroshield and keep the cai
I ordered one of those hydro shields yesterday. ^^^^^^ that's exactly what I thought but i didn't hit any puddles I was just drivign in the rain. I was looking for puddles and watching how much water was coming of the cars tires in front of me so I could miss most of the puddles but it was thunder storming so I'm sure water was splashing in there some how. Hopefully the shield works. Atleast the car is running great . Smoked a Tc on the way to work this morning.
had this happen to me, I switched intakes and had to pay 280 bucks plus towing costs to honda. What had happened a little water got into the cylinder. It fouled the spark plugs and got into the oil so I got new spark plugs oil and oil filter. I has been running fine since. That was about 2500 miles ago
