Upgrading B16
Hey folks
I am looking at upgrading the B16A2 in my 2000 SiR (EM1).
I have researched and priced various NA components
Throttle Body,Camshafts,Cam Gears,Intake Manifold,Valve springs and retainers,Header,Upgraded fuel pump, Fuel rail, Adjustable Fuel pressure regulator.
All of these togother would give considerable horsepower gain but are quite expensive.
The other consideration is Turbo.
I just wonder if boosting a stock engine is right idea. How does that effect reliability and longevity. I guess from what I understand if the boost level is not too high and the car is properly tuned it should be fine.
Boosting also gives considerably more horsepower gain for about the same or less money.
So I have to wonder which is the best. Obviously if i could completly build the engine and boost it then it would be ideal but I don't have that kinda cash lying around.
What do you think?

boosting a stock engine is actually quite common. check out the forced induction forum.
basically, as for reliability and longevity, its all about the tune, dont cheap out on tuning.
