Timing Belt Install - Align To Single Crank Mark *NOT* The 3 Marks, Correct?
Well I broke my timing belt today, snapped @ 70mph and about 5k. Tried cranking several times when I was coasting to get it to start back up. Came to a stop and noticed the snapped gruesome belt, knew the damage was done
Car didnt make any bangs or grinds though, i was boosting about 5psi pulling through traffic and it sounded and felt like a charge pipe popped, car just kinda bogged, but ofcourse I kept cranking it which made **** even worse
So Im not even going to attempt to salvage that motor, I know something or another is fucked and the rings were smoking anyways.
So Im installing a timing belt on my built d16, stock d16a6 with aem camgear. I got the cam gear A6 marking lined up with the plastic piece and on the crank there the 3 markings and then 1" to the right theres the single marking
Im shooting for that single marking right?
Took me a while to figure it out and how to keep it all in perfect sync and tighness playing with the tensioner. When I rotate counterclockwise everything stays in order and aligns everything, but I notice when I stick a screwdriver down the #1 pistons hole, the piston stays at TDC for about 1/4" before and past that little marking.
Normal? Error?
Everything solid?
