swapped H22. cranks but wont start. fuel pump not priming. help!! *searched and did everything*
i am almost nearly done with my swap. lately i been having problems with starting it up. everything is plugged up and done. for some odd reason it wont start. it cranks and cranks but wont start. i checked just about everything. i searched and checked everything i didnt check before again. so now im down to having no faith. i dont know what the heck to look for anymore.
here are a list of the things i checked and changed..
-main relay. checked and changed. i had 3 main relays and one of em is for sure brand new.
-fuel pump. i have 2. and the other was working before on my other h22 prelude.
-checked all the ground. (t-stat.tranny.vavlecover)
-ECU is spoon p13. which is in working condition but i tested my friends GSR ecu and it still didnt start.
-checked fuses. ECU fuses and everything in between. changed relays.
-checked wire harness.
-sprayed starter fluid.
-checked and changed ignition coil. i have 2 of em.
-checkedn and changed ignitor. i have 2 of these as well.
-checked timing. TDC was set.
-checked cap and rotors. appears to be in good condition. sanded it down a bit just for better contact.
-checked and changed spark plugs with correct gapping.
-spark plug wires are brand new NGK's.
-spark plug wires in the correct cylinder.
-checked and changed gas tank.
-added gas.
-checked starter. appears to be in good condition.
-brand new battery.
these are all of the things i can think of that i have checked/changed.
i really ran outta things to check and change so if anyone knows why my pos car isnt starting i'd really appreciate the help. the motor was running fine on my other prelude. the h22 came from my 93 vtec model. but i bought a 94 vtec model shell so thats why im swapping it. but i did removed alot of things form the 94 vtec shell which im not sure has anything to do with it. but i removed the evap canister.EGR system. a/c. p/s. c/c. i removed the inside climate control system. the blower motor. everything under the dash. including airbags. please someone help me!!!!!!

if you recently changed the thermostat, make sure there is a wire that is grounded to one of the bolts on the thermostat housing. i believe its a black wire with an eyehook and it goes to the main relay. i had this problem and wasted an entire day tracking down a fuel pump and changing it to realize i forgot to reconnect a wire that i didnt know was there..
good luck!
good luck!

Test it in another prelude. The gsr has 240cc injectors... the p13 has 345cc's.

Yep. A lot of people forget to ground that wire.

Can you hear the fuel pump cut on? Did you check that you have fuel pressure at the fuel rail? If you grab the return fuel line from the FPR, you should feel fuel passing through it with the car on.
If your getting Fuel, take a spark plug out, ground it against the engine, and verify that you are getting spark.

actually i am gettin spark. im not gettin no fuel. the fuel pump doesnt prime. i just listen toit real close and it doesnt even make its winding noise.
as for the ground on the thermostat, i saw a ground looking wire sticking out of the harness...which had 4 little wires hooked up to it. and everyone was say that needs to be grounded on the thermostat bolt housing. which i only have 2. so i grounded it to one of the bolts on the thermostat housing. can someone show me a pic of the correct way of how to do this. cuz from what ive heard, if that doesnt ground, the car wont start.
thanks for the help guys!!

I apologize that I dont have the picture but you can still mess around with that ground some. I really do believe that its just not grounded correctly. Depending on how much play you have with those wires (I extended mine) then I would try attaching them to something else...like your tranny even. Just to be sure.

just take one of the thermostat bolts off and put it on the bolt and tighten it back down. thats all i did

i was having this problem after i took my old engine out and put in the new one........there was this little box that plugged into a plug that was coming from where the fuel tank is at. it was all part of that harness. i just never plugged it in because i didn't figure it would matter any.....apparently it does, as soon as i plugged it in the car cranked right up. i don't know what the box is called, in fact, i even looked it up at slhonda.com and still couldn't find it.

did you try this yet? i can't remember what color the plug is, but its an extension of the harness that's connected to the fuel pump wiring and fuel level wiring. the wires coming out of the harness are probably at least a foot and a half long. like i said, i'm not sure what the box even is......but i'd look into if i were you- considering that you've tried everything else already. my pump WOULD NOT cut on without this box plugged in. look into it, it's worth a try.
