Default Weight reduction

I just stripped everything out of the car and put the driver seat and the dash back in. Now im working on trying to figure out a way to make the slidding sunroof lighter.. any ideas?? I was thinking of removing the whole mechanism and going to home depot and buying some sheets of plexi glass and siliconing it in.. ??

this is in my 89 crx si

it has a b16a2 shooting for all motor 12's

you're going to have to mechanically fasten it somehow- silicone won't work by itself.

the roof is curved, but you can use flat stock. lexan, aluminum, cf sheet. whatever.

rivets are ghetto, but they work. whichever fasteners you use, start in the middle and work out to avoid ripples. countersunk flathead cap-screws and nylock nuts (like you'd use for lexan windows) is my first choice.

i have this cf kit. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=622880
it's really well thought out, and adam is gets two for customer service from me.

don't hack up a perfeclty good crx. they are getting hard to come by get a hatch or something like that more popular. and all motor 12's are gonna be hard with out tons of goodies like cams and such. I just broke 12's with my crx with high cr ls/vtec slicks and launching @almost 8000rpm. hope you know your stuff about all motor

i ran 12.9's all motor stock block last year. cams springs retainers, IM, TB on a shitty ebay chip. its quite doable in a light *** ef on slicks

then add bottle for 11's

all I got is ctr's in a ls/vtec no head work cams. and a dc sports usdm itr header. the car still has probably a 12.5 in her but needs a new suspension in it. still rocking the 210,XXX mile stock suspension. kinda hurts the 60's a bit. only getting 1.8's

the weight youll save by hacking it up isnt worth what youll gain by doing it.

things people over look in weight reduction

1. wheels
2. header and exhuast. aftermarket is worlds lighter than the stock cast iron ****.
3. hf bumper supports.
4. cf hood although, thats only saving you a few pounds. crx hoods are light.
5. aftermarket front x member

see if anyone makes a lexan rear window.

no offense, but by the sound of the original post this sounds like a typical ricer with a b16a crx that just wants to gut the **** out of it, add a fart can and expect to have a 12 sec car with "mad v-tack" not gonna happen.

i don't agree with you guys with calling this "hacking up the car". the kit i posted ( or doing it yourself in a similar way with cheaper materials) is clean. and 32 pounds off the roof is pretty good...

would i do it in any car i daily drove- hell no. but then again i wouldn't put early hf bumper supports or a traction bar on a dd either.

but if its going into a timed event and it's legal, it's coming out. ymmv.

Thats what you guys thought I was doing. I have a 84 crx and I asked if I could get 12's with an all motor b16a. Right away everyone was thinking the same thing. I say screw the idea that your going to get 12's (real 12's not a 12.9999998) with a all motor b16a. I've decided to go turbo again and you should think about it too. So much cheaper and more fun.
