Default Taking Badges Off My Car, Help

Just took the civic badges off the back of my hatch for a cleaner look, anyone have any tips on how to get that damn glue off without taking off the clear coat?

use some strong *** fishing line and work it behind the badge untill in comes off. Then hit up autozone or walmart and use some goo gone to get rid of the gunk. Then wax that area. You wont even be able to tell it was there.

Goo gone is what you are looking for. IMO i think that you should leave the badges on, but to each is own

orange colored liquid in a clear bottle, sold at home depot and other fine hardware stores.

one thing, once you get all the glue off, just hit it with water and clean rag, it is a turpintine although very mild if the sun beats down on it for a while it might change the color of the paint a bit.

also, the front emblem has two holes in the hood to align it. if you remove the H you will need to fill those hoels with bondo and repaint the front part of the hood.

so be careful if you didnt realize that was needed.

is this not true of the rear emblems? Either of them?

hmm good to know, thanks.

makes it that much easier when I finally repaint.

related question: as far as bondo goes for filling the hood holes, will it crack over time? Never used bondo, but I've heard that bondo jobs will crack and crumble. Is this only true of larger areas and not small emblem holes? Example, I've also got a few door dings that I'd like to take care of - is bondo a good way to go?

haha, I didn't realize you own all CRX's...I popped the emblem of the back of my hatch and there were holes. I haven't cleaned all the glue off the HONDA emblem to see if there are holes yet (yes there was that much glue on there) but there are definately two holes holding the H emblem on a hatchback.

just fyi!

Make sure you don't mix up Goo-Gone with Goof-Off. Goo-Gone is an orange oil based cleaner and won't hurt your pain. Goof-Off is some NASTY solvent action and will definitely expletive your clearcoat.

which is funny because they are RIGHT next to each other on the shelf at walmart.

I got Goo Gone in the gel form in a spray bottle. you pay a little more, but it seemed like it would be less mess. Its just a little thicker.
