master cylinder question
i need some help/advice.
i have an EF with all DA brake stuff. my master cylinder was leaking, so i bought a reman. one from napa. $51. i was able to remove the resevior from the old one (not usualy and easy feat), however i had to cut the band/clamp that held it together. the clamps are not available to buy seperatly. should i (A) return the master cylinder and buy a new one from Weaver $129 or (B) try a hose clamp (recommended from a tech at Acura over the phone), and maybe use some type of glue as well?

a hose clamp will do fine. the stock clamp isnt that great of a clamp anyway. theres no pressure in the reservoir. just clean the surfaces to make sure theres no leak.
well, i got the master cylinder from a junk yard in the first place. so i don't know that another one will be much better. especially if it has been sitting and the seals dry out. i think i will try a hose clamp for now. worst case is i have to buy a new one if it leaks
oh. well, i snapped the head off the bolt trying to salvage the clamp i had. thats why i broke out the dremel. i'm guessing that all the other clamps are equally as rusty. they are 15 yrs. old. i will probably try the hose clamp for now, and scope the junkyard when i have time
