In short, a code 16 will set whenever there is a break in the electrical path to the injectors. This includes at least the ignition switch, main relay, injector resistors, injector coils, and all the wiring and clips in between.

Start with resoldering the main relay. Suspect the injectors last.

so it can just be a result of my main relay being bad?

Yes. The solder pads develope hairline fractures. Normally, they get bad enough to prevent the fuel pump from energizing after the cabin temperature gets high from parking in the sun, resulting in a no-start condition. (lots of topics on this if you want to search)

In your case, the fractures could be fine enough to briefly interupt the voltage feed to the injectors when you go over a bump. This type of intermittent failure could set a code but be short enough that you wouldn't notice any performance issues.

The cheapest route would be to resolder the pads on the main relay and see what happens after that.
