Default zc dohc or zc sohc

My engine started to burn oil not long ago and its transmission is starting to give me some trouble in 3rd gear.... it is a d16a6 sohc. ps it has 200000 + miles on it

I would like to ask your guys your opinion on what should i do. Because I am planning to add a turbo or a supercharger later on it. So i am looking on the best base to get the most power with the less $ later on. And i dont have the $ for a b series engine.

1st choice : should i just rebuilt this Sohc and its transmission.
2nd : should i swap it with a zc Dohc with transmission
3rd should i swap it with a jdm d16a6? which i figure its the zc sohc.

My plan is to get the best for the $ and that is stays reliable. But you cant always ask to much in this world. Plans are plans. They arent always followed.

i would go single cam zc with si tranny. zc dohc's are overated and arent that much faster (if at all) than a single cam with some work done to it.

rebuild the A6 with 10:1 compression and some head work to rev to 8k, and better cam. Would be a fun little car to drive. Or build it 8.5:1 compression to get it ready for boost.

A6 is identical to the SOHC ZC don't waste your money.

just save for a bseries swap. if u are on a tight budget. u can get a ls swap for pretty cheap. i know around here u can get them for around 700 bux for the whole swap.

u can push it to 320 but safely 250-280 on a stock motor. but if u build it the #s are unlimited. and yes the ls is the integra 1.8 non vtec

Its my daily driver that is why i want it to be a little reliable.
Also i dont want to make it the fastest thing around. Just enough whp...i guess around 200whp.
The engine must just be something upgradable if ever i want to modify something on it.
Also when i go and drag the car i would like to be able to beat other cars then untuned civics

With a turbo. If i boost less... the car will be more relaible then at the boost limit...no?

you can run boost on a car and still have it reliable. Just have it tuned correctly and dont go overboard on boost.

so if i put in the ls engine i should change the muffler also.... because of the higher displacement.

Will it be street legal?
