IM ABOUT TO SHOOT THIS CAR!!!! HELP, if you can
I'm having a bit of a problem here, after the tune on this car it was working beautiful, no problems. Then after some time i started getting this stupid wat im guessing is ignition cut, i had replaced the dizzy brand new before the tune.So then after some time had passed it would start cutting out and doing this TATATATA around after vtec, mind you it ONLY DOES IT SOMETIMES, as if it has a mind of its own, which is really pissing me the expletive off like no other, i replace the cap and rotor cause the rotor looked pretty fried. i tried regapping the plugs down to .25 from .28 but thinking i know it cant be the plugs, cause after the tune it was perfect, so thinking after the new cap and rotor i thought i fixed it, but guess again, i didnt. Is it possible for a 1-3 month old dizzy, the parts inside coil and igniter go bad?
Plugs im using are ngk 7s, i was using 8's before but changed them, i was looking at the coil in the dizzy, and looking at the lil coil spring, looks kinda caroded on the spring, have no idea wat it is, all i know is its really pissing me off, i have been practically pulling my damn hair out cause of this, buying this buying that. PLEASE HELP IF U CAN, TIA
BTW - its a gsr

sounds like it could be the ignitor, have you tried a different dizzy and double checked timing?
</TD></TR></TABLE>
havent tried differnet dizzy's cause i would need to borrow it for a while till it does it again, this bull **** only does it when it wants to. EXACTLY, that is wat i want to do to the ****, BREAK YO SELF CAR!!!

i was either thinking coil or igniter, but why would it cause it and only do it sometimes? i could be rolling in 1st gear, get on it start boosting after vtec, then this tatatata ****, popping, or one day or 5 min later, from 1-3 it can be beautiful

Yeh becuase the ignitor is going bad...same thing happens to me...i would do a few good pulls flawlessly then that breaking up crap would start...i can actually smell the raw fuel not being burned...i mean your ignitor would be good for dd and low boost...but it wasnt made to ignite that fast on high boost...some people get lucky and get away with stock iginiton for a while...but rotors and caps go out, coils go out, and soon enuff the ignitor goes...
So instead of messing with the headach of changing crap out...i decided to upgrade...you may want to consider the msd billet distributor, msd ignitor, and ss coil, heard people do well on that so far, the price difference from m&w and that setup maybe 150-200 cheaper...

yeah, i do smell this oder when its doing that ****, like fuel or something, but is it really that possible for a 1-3 month old dizzy to have parts go bad? after the tune it was working great, i guess it was just wearing out after time, im only boosting 10 pounds. Its a Distributor King dizzy.

try borrowing a freinds distributor...my guess is ur ignitor is gone...try asking dizzy king for another...more likely that one will prolli go out to in a few months...but u never know...it mite last ya...surprised urs went out at 10 psi...double check ur plugs and what gap are u running?
was running .28 then went down to .25, but cant be the gap, cause i was running the same gap during the tune
The coil went out on my Distributor King Dizzy in 1500 miles...similar problems until one day it just crapped out completely. That'd be my first look...
since you're in socal you can come by and try out a spare dizzy i have. it's obd1 dual vtec. PM me if you're interested. located in carson by the way.
I have a shotgun and some buck or a slug, I can certainly help you shoot it.
go back to -8 plugs (i run -9). you need the colder range and put the gap at 25 if under 12lbs, otherwise go to .22
could be igniter or coil, but check your plugs, first, it's cheaper than the other 2.

i was using 8s before, it was doing it when i had 8s also, but not as bad, then switched to 7s and then i thought it went away completely, but i think thats when the dizzy was starting to take a ****.

yeah what map sensor (manifold absolute pressure) are you running? OEM? 3bar? 2.5bar?
Cause i know oem will only read like ~11psi after that you will start getting weirdass issues.... on my last boosted project i was boosting 10psi on stock map and if it ever even slightly crept or overboosted it would hit a hard fuel/ignition cut
just something to consider
