Default running gsr ecu

I swapped a d15b into my 99ek hatch and the idle keeps jumping. I did the 3 wire to 2 wire conversion for the iacv, got the jumpber harness for the ecu, and everything is wired correctly. But my idle keeps jumping and I cannot figure it out. Everything looks as it should be because I looked over it well over 5 times.

I am just running a gsr ecu until my P28 comes in from ebay.

It could be anything man. This has been covered so much its insane.

Check your coolant level

Make sure there are no vaccum leaks

Check your FITV valve

Oh, and search for "erratic idle, illregular idle, fluctiating idle" and you will gets TONS of results im sure.

And running the wrong ecu can cause all sorts of things. Also have you tried unplugging your iacv?

havnt tried unpluging it yet. I am about to give up on this car, it's seriously one thing after another. I have had a rental for about 5 weeks now and im paying a *** raping amount for it. But anyway, I took it back to the honda tech guy who was working on it. When I picked it up today he said everything was running great and it was (in his shop). I don't think he let the car learn before he charged me $424 for wiring and a new dizzy.

Well, one way to know for sure if the eacv or iacv is broken is if you unplug it. If you unplug it and idle goes to what it should be, then it's bad or needs cleaning or you didn't wire it in right...

I will try that today. I dropped it back off at the shop last night at 3 in the morning. Hopefully no one broke into it (fingers crossed). ***************************

Wow...this is seriously the most rediculous thing I've ever seen......

My name is Chris Shenefield, and I am the owner of RedShift Motorsports, and we are the ones he said he's going to call the Better Business Bureau on.
Here are a couple of facts about this guys car:
1) The wiring on this car is a total mess
2) I came in on a Saturday to work on it even though I don't usually do that. I charged you far less than I should have because I spent a lot of time on it.
3) I didn't charge you $500. I charged you $400 plus tax (you are a PA resident). I charged you $150 for the distributor (my cost was $143 wholesale). I charged you $250 for the labor which included troubleshooting the following:
A) injector #2 that wasn't firing - you didn't even realize that it was running on 3 cylinders when you brought it in....
B) distributor wiring - had the tach wire connected to the ECU distributor output wire and the crank position sensor completely disconnected from the ECU...it's was pinned to the wrong place on your OBD2 plug (which you said was a result of somebody rewiring a bunch of stuff and no knowing where you put it back).
C) Tried another ecu and found your ecu to be bad..... AND let you borrow a P72 ecu because I didn't have a P28 and we were waiting for another one to come in. You still have that P72 ecu in your car. What a terrible guy I am.

Sorry to be so harsh Dan, but WTF? Most people realize that I do good work. Working on a jacked up car is 10x more difficult than doing it right in the first place.

I never said you ripped me off. Chris just said your car will be running good when you pick it up. I go a mile down the road and its totally messed up. Then thinking that he isn't gonna charge me for more repairs because he said it would be running good I believed him. I never said anything bad. I was pissed about paying then having it running bad. If you paid money to get a car fixed and got told its running good then a mile down the road its idleing at 5k? Wouldn't you get mad after being told it's running good?

Im not here to argue. Whats done is done. Chris dropped what he was doing to work on your car, What you did was disrespectful and very inconsiderate. Im done on this thread, good luck with your car.

This makes me never want to do service again. Most people with jacked up cars don't realize how hard it is to fix their mistakes. We had a bad ecu, a bad distributor, a wire that wasn't pinned right, another wire attached to a 3rd wire. All on a car that started out as an OBD2B and now has an OBD1 engine. We didn't put it in....you did. And you said "I can only spend $400 dollars.... then you said only $500. And I only charge you $400. I didn't even charge you what you offered to pay.

I don't know..... I'm tired of this whole business right now.

It's terrible that you disrespect and tell bs storys about Chris and his team at RedShift. Anyone knows That theres nothing worst then fixing someone elses mistake. thats why you take to someone that knows what there doing in the first place. Me and my friends have a great respect for Chris and his team. Ive talked to Chris many times and the wealth of knowledge he has is incredible you should be ashamed.

No, I said whatever it takes to get fixed. Chris I am not looking for a arguement, I like you as a person it's just upsetting that the car went haywire only such a short distance down the road I am not going and doing anything I am not the type of person. Whatever was said is over and done with.

An to explain all I did was put the engine in, soder the injectors, connect the sensors (all that had a home to go to), and wire for vtec and the dizzy from what peter told me from rywire.com. The dizzy probably went bad because of the auto ecu, and it isn't bad it was a auto like you said and I converted it today when I got home. I explained why and what happened with the dizzy output wire? Being in the wrong spot because of the honda tech at motor world giving me the 96-98 chart when I told him 99-00.

I did not post any b/s stories everything I said was true, and so is what chris said also. I don't see even why this is getting blown out like this. It's over.

Yes, I want it over with too. I'm sorry that my work didn't fix every problem on your car. And I should have tested it more than just idling and reving the motor. But remember you had me under a "I can only spend" deal.... so I did what I thought I should do. I had no way to know something else was wrong.

Moving on......

Just another RedShift supporter here. I personally saw the car at the shop and was their when he came to pick it up. I heard your mom bitching to the one guy their that doesn't have anyhting to do with redshift. then you get in your car as soon as I move my car and take off like a tough guy. Just a hint when your in someones shop pay a little respect to the people that work there and wait till they get out of the way before you try pulling out. Especially when im in a legbrace and can barelly walk!

What Chris had you pay was a great price and they are great guys up there....Plus I saw the hack job you did on the car from the paint to the wiring so you should feel lucky you only had to spend 400$

Dude you were out of the way and inside the shop. Your car was more then 30ft away from you. Why is everyone sturing up problems? I never said one word about redshift no names, location nothing. I am not looking for problems geez. Also my mom knew chris wasn't there and she wasn't bitching. She just believe's when you take a car to a mechanic it should be fixed. It's over who cares stop trying to make me look bad when I did nothing and said nothing about redshift. Also my car is jacked up how? Because I had a buddy who took a sodering class soder my injector wires? Because I have a water temp probe in a coolant hose? I know somthing is wrong with the wiring, but I do not know what. If I get it running decent before friday I am not getting rid of the car but if not im selling it for cheap and starting out new. Sorry for all this confusion I never ment any harm nor anything. I just thought it was fixed and it wasn't. I also never complained about the price to chris because I knew he cut me a break considering the amount of time spent on it. I have no hard feelings for redshift

Thanks for setting the record straight Dan. Much appreciated. I'm sorry it got out of hand. Sorry for yelling on the phone. I don't get angry much, but this really hit me the wrong way. When you work hard to do the right thing and treat people right, bad publicity (even un-named but very close to home) is a serious issue.

Good luck with your car. I hope the suggestions I gave you yesterday will help.

Sincerely,
Chris
