ive had many over heating issues. You might need to give a little more info on when it happens. Does it happen when you stop? If so does it go back down when you start driving again?

A few things to do. "Burp" your coolent. That means start your car and let it run for a few fan cycles. Not sure exactly if it needs to be too long. But the concept is that when the coolent is rushed through your engine when it needs to be cooled down it will get out any air bubbles. That may be your problem. There may be an air bubble on your thermostat and that can cause your car to over heat.

Onother thing it may be is your fan switch isnt working. If your running your car and your at a stop and your fan doesnt turn on that could be why your car over heats. You may need to get a new fan switch or rig up a manual fan switch in your car.

Also make sure your coolent is full. May sound stupid and easy, but some dont fill it up all the way.

this might sound stupid but make sure you installed the thermostat correctly,

the gasket has a slit in it and it fits onto the thermostat,

I'm currently having the same problem,

check your bleed screw and see if that helps at all.

if your bottom rad hose doesnt get hot then your thermostat isnt opening,

I also have a JDM B16A OBD0 swap,

I changed the thermostat and soem other things and I'm having the same problem

did you try a different radiator? well look for leaks and if not, it prob be a blown head gasket

did you instal the thermostat right? is the little ball at the top when you instal it? This is what you should do. Make sure you put the thermostat in right. Flush your whole system. You do this by either going to schucks and buying a kit or do it the cheap way. Drain your coolent. Then start your car and use a hose to fill your coolent system. Let it cycle through a bit to clean it all out. It will make a mess so do it in the street or in a drive way. Get all the water out and fill the your system with 50/50 water coolent. Keep it running and make sure to fill the whole system. And burp it out. And is the switch you have for you fan inside your car? Like when your sitting you can just flip it on? If so then cool. But try that out and see if it works.

sounds like your radiator is clogged.

My brother had this problem before. Did you bleed the coolant system using the bleeder valve (or w/e it's called) on the front of the engine? You bleed the coolant the same way you bleed the brakes.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by spcrxracer &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
.....here's what i found:

1) There was a small leak, but it was because i didnt tighten the lower RAd hose all the way. i fixed this before i made this post

2) The fan does work and comes on when it should. I knew this before the post also.

3) The thermostat is fine

4) When i warm up the car and feel both radiator hoses, they are hot.

6) I am going to rule it out as bleeding the coolant system. I bled it once already but hey, cant hurt to bleed it again.

EDIT: --FOLLOW UP--

Well i bled the coolant system and a few more bubbles came out so looks like thats what it was. My advice to anyone that had this problem...... Fill, bleed, fill, bleed. </TD></TR></TABLE>

On my B16 there is a Bleeder screw in the back of the head.

Its on the upper rad. hose. just behind the dizzy,

Well I found my problem, it was my cluster,
I swapped it out before and messed it all up.

swapped in a stock one I didnt mess with and everything is good.

Normally your bottom rad not getting hot means that the thermostat didnt open.

But I dont know.

ok when you run with no thermostat, and it still over heats, most of the time its gonna end up being a messed up radiator, when u take out the thermostat, its just freeflowing water through the motor, and if yuor bottom hose is not getting pressure or getting hot the radiator is clogged so just try borrowing another radiator and seeing if that is the problem, one way i tested it was to take the garden hose and remove the radiator and stick it into one of the hoses and have the water constantly running and drain out, it stopped overheating so it wasnt my motor and it was just my radiator
