a question regarding to upshifitng at low rpm..
HI. I just got a 2000 Honda Civic Si, and I am a new stick-shift driver. Yeah...driving a stick car is fun. Back to the topic. Currently what I am doing is drive on high gear at low rpm: start 0-2500 to 2nd and shift to the next following gears whenever it reaches 3000rpm. The main reason I do this is to get a better gas mileage. However, someone told me not to do it cuz it may leave some unburnt gas or whatever in the somewhere of the car. Hope someone can tell me the right rpm for each gear?
Oh, and one more question. My car has 82k miles on it, so the engine is probably worn out a little. Should I get 10W - 30, 10W - 40, or 5W - 30?

82k is just starting to break in on a honda
you have a while to go man.
i seriously doubt shifting at 3k is going to leave unburnt gas, most honda manuals actually recommend shifting at around 3k. so if you have the owners manual, read up on it, it'll tell you the optimum shift points. also, the manual will tell you which oil to use, but most people just run 10w-40 regardless.
