got the azenis tires on
Well, I got the tires on today. The sidewalls are very stiff. Even the service writer at the tire place said they were having problems getting the tire mounted because of that specific reason. After leaving the tire shop in btown, I admired them in a parking lot…then I noticed something on all 4 wheels. All of them had the gunmetal coat peeling on the edges!!! I immediately went back to the place to show them the damages. They said that there was no way getting around that problem. Well, okay that is fine. However, they should have asked me before proceeding to do it to the rest of the wheels. I was angry, but couldn’t do anything about it at the time because I had class.
Here is my impression of the tires:
I LOVE EM!!! My car handles a lot better on turns, and I feel no tire spin as I accelerate out from the apex of turns. Moreover, I did not feel the tire folding over on turns either…really STIFF side wall. Most of all they are extremely sticky. The better handling and grip may be due to the wider than stock size. 205/50/15 is perfect in my opinion.
Peace,
Lyle

Have you had those heat cycled or shaved? If not it's almost impossible for any new tires to feel so great right away. That even applies to race compound tires that i've used before like A032R and Kumho V700. Are you sure that was not your perception?
How much did you pay to have them mounted and balanced? I just called a local race shop that I am having mount mine and the price is $95 for the set. This sounded expensive, but they have the equipment to do it right...
I'm comparing them to stock tires (RE010). I payed 70 dollars to have them mounted and balanced. Okay, maybe it was my imagination about the better handling...

Regarding the amazing dry grip, I agree, a lot better than the RE010 and the Toyo T1-S (tires that I've had so far on my R). I also like the stiff sidewall.
I'm pretty sure I will kill them before 10k miles though

that's BS about the damage to your wheels, they're just lazy or stupid. I've had Kumho V700s (stiffer than the Azenis sidewall) put on my R rims 3 times (an old set mounted, the same set flipped, and recently a new set mounted), and the only damage to the edges is where i put the weights. Find a shop that knows how to take care of wheels.
I work at a tire store, what they told you is bs... it was pure carelessness to scratch a 15" wheel like that... they should pay to have all 4 of your wheels resurfaced, possibly even a rental while they are fixing them...
that is what we would and have done in the past with similar circumstance
what store was it?
