Default no speedo/odo or tach, nothings working. I've tried everything... please look!

my tach and speedo both wen't out the other day, we'll the tach wen't out 2 days before, then the speedo wen't out aswell. I'm getting a code 17, VSS, but what would cause the tach to go out? I retraced all the wires I could to the best of my knowledge in the engine bay, made sure everythign was plugged in, etc. Took out my cluster, made sure everythign was plugged in. Reset my ecu, everything.... Anyone offer some help?

Car is:
1999 Honda civic DX hatch
99 ITR b18c5 motor swap
chipped p06/p28 ecu
boosted

blah blah that probs doesn't help, haha...

I took it to my local honda/acura guyand he couldn't figure it out either, and he had it for 2 days. Is it something I should bring to my honda dealer, or am I just gonna' get raped and still be stuck w/ the same problem.

Its the vehicle speed sensor is bad/ or not pluged in/ or wire harness for this sensor is cut or damaged. The VSS is located at the top back side of the tranny and come out after taking one 10mm bolt out.

check if the vss plug is wet. take it off and put it back on. if you hear a hissing sound plugging it back in, its wet. clean it and try it. worked for me

its gettign tach signal to the ecu, so wondering if I ran a wire from the tach wire coming outta' the dizzy(splice it) and run it to my cluster, would this solve my problem? Also, are all VSS interchangable, and do Ijust unscrew, pull out, put new one on, rescrew and re-plug? Any ideas? speedo just randomly comes on and off and code 17(vss)
