Default Help Request - Koni Shock Install

I've been trying to install some Koni Yellows in my 93 SR-V. I've cross checked three walk throughs and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

After I loosen the pinch bolt that holds the fork and the shock together, everyone says it should just *drop away*. As show in the NTPOG's tutorial: http://ntpog.org/mods/fifth-springs/Image4.jpg

After I loosen the pinch bolt, nothing happens. For some reason, the assembly is actually pushing *up*. I can jostle it out by getting someone to stand on the hub but why? What didn't I do? I don't want to pinch my finger/hand/arm off...

Please help

Spray some WD-40 on the fork. Then get someone to stand/jump/wiggle whatever it takes to get it out. It WILL eventually come out, just keep at it.

have a friend extend (not compress) the suspension arm, the sway bar is trying to "push" up the arm if you have the car jacked up on three wheels. If you have no friends just disconnect the front sway bar and make sure there is a jack under the arm so it doesn't fall, I used the stock honda jack from the trunk. Hope you're not using that to hold the enite car up for the job.

As the posted above me mentined, it won't just drop away due to the sway bar, but also the bushings act as little springs to raise the hub assembly.

There should not be any problems jostling the suspension to free the fork.

Wow, coming from a Cavalier to a Prelude, I didn't even consider the sway bar....

Looks like today will end in awesomeness thanks to you guys... Thanks so much...

it'll be EXTREMELY easier to jack up the entire front or rear of the car, instead of just one wheel at a time. that way the sway bar wont be twisting/compressing the suspension.

try that, i'm sure it'll be much easier

Thanks guys -- I did exactly as you guys said and it worked like money.

My lude's now slammed (though, it's a little too low for Toronto roads up here and definately too low for a Canadian winter).

Thanks again everyone.
