Hey HT- I'm not new to HT but I am to the DC5. I just purchased an 02 non Type S with 51,980 for $13,000 at Keeler Honda in Latham, NY. It was listed for $15,000 but I was able to dick them around a little! I love this car! Ride is comfortable, it's very appealing and the best part of the whole car is the gauges. They are just so sexy, especially at night! So My plans are to do these basics first.
1. Suspension. Tein SS adjustable coilovers
2. 17in Hyper black with a polished lip 5 spoke wheels with Bf Goodrich tires or 16's in Bronze ( Gramlites if I have the money )
3. A-Spec Lip Kit minus the wing
4. Tint all the way around.
and way down the road when I have near $3,000 to blow away. Turbo setup. Turbonetics A/r .60
Now I'm moving to college in the fall and will be living in an apartment near UMass-Amherst. I plan to do some little things like DIY black housing headlights, paint the VC either a Goldish Bronze and/or Wrinkle Red. I have numerous Charge piping left over from my track car-Ej8- and plan to make a True CAI with a bypass valve to fight against hydrolocking and maybe purchase a Carbon Fiber spark plug cover to dress up the bay a little more.
here's some quick/ CRAPPY pics. Don't flame. I'm not a photographer by any means
Sorry for the big pics too. I'm a total noobie when it comes to taking and fixing pics.

and a few pics of my wonderful Ej8. swapped and boosted and FS
These pics actually came out okay cuz I tried a little harder than the ones I took of the RSX

So, Is the list I have for mods a good start? I don't wanna take any short cuts with this car and I dont wanna spend money the wrong way to only go back and fix it over again. Also, is there any other helpful links for anything involved with DC5's and especially with turbo setups. I've heard that the K20a3 can handle boost really well. Thanks guys.
Any good websites for Dc5's? I need more info on boosting these motors. How reliable they are and how well they accept boost. Thanks

Welcome to the community bro. The car is nice and the mods sound good. I have an 06 Type-S and love the way it rides. I only had the car for 2 months and its already being built. Cf hood, front and back Cusco strut bars, Tein S. Techs, ITR **** and a lip. Good luck on your build im sure you will be very happy at the end.

thanks man. sounds like you've got a great start too. Sucks when you're in college and paying for a crap load of things and have no money to mod the car though
Oh, BTW, what can I do about that black plastic thing on the Intake manifold. Can I take that off. What is it? Is it like a heat shield thing. It's F'in ugly and cheesy and I kinda wanna get rid of it. Is that possible? Oh and one more question. On top of the IM, there is a little black circle thing that looks like a wastegate. What the hell is that thing?

no I really wont,
1. They are more expensive. Especially when I'm going to college
2. Insurance in way more for me for a type S
3. I'm going Boost and I dont feel like changing out internals to keep the compression under extreme levels
4. I really don't care. RSX is an RSX. At least its not another civic. They are more rare around here and being 19 almost 20 I think this is a big step up from my Ej8. I love this car and for the price, I made out excellent!

Im in the military and sometimes my cash flow does come up short but it doesn't hurt to save a little ya know. School is much more important because after its all said and done whatever you are majoring in will bring in more cash for you to do more to your car. Enjoy the ride bro! As for the piece on top of your IM you can take it off but its pointless because there isn't much to show underneath it. I am trying to get the J's racing valve cover and the CF piece for the IM to accommidate the look.

I hear ya. I'm studying Music Education and I have 2 trumpets right now, worth over $2,500 each. I keep telling myself that these things will be able to get me to buy whatever I want when the time comes. My bro was in the USMC and money isn't really an issue when you're getting up in rank. I'll find a way to mod the **** outta my car through school though. That's what working your *** off is all about! How much do those CF pieces on the IM run? I just cant stand looking at the black plastic IM. It looks cheap. I'd rather have a nice aluminum IM showing than some crap plastic.

Thanks a lot man. I put a lot of time and money into that thing. considering I bought it stock and it was black then I painted it blue then it underwent a 3rd paint job(present) and then threw in a b18b-T to really set it off. I was making about 300whp at 14lbs of boost! **** moved good! Now I'm ready for some K20a3-T action!

Yeah club rsx has a ton of info, i've been learning alot about these cars from there
about that manifold ? i think if you remove it you take apart the manifold. Its not a heat sheild its a actual plastic manifold. I think you can swap it with the k20a3 mani that comes in the 02-05 civic si.
about the internals and boost if you read up on clubrsx you'll see alot of people have reliably boosted the k20a2 to good numbers on stock componets. the compression may be up there but the a2 internal componets are built really good and with good tuning (kpro) u can get some good numbers.
at least your not auto

yea, I couldn't do another automatic, my civic was automatic and I swapped it over to 5spd when I did my motor swap. I'd do the manual conversion again cuz I found it very simple.
I'll def look into Kpro, I've heard good things. personally I'd go Hondata s200w/boost or s300 if I have the money. I have a local tuner that tunes with Hondata a lot.
that blows about that intake manifold. Would the one I have now be better for getting rid of heat as opposed to the aluminum IM? If anything I would upgrade the IM to a skunk2 unit or something along those lines. Thanks for the info man

Fellow rsx type s owner here...
Congrats on the beautiful dc5... There are lots of people that are going to tell you "you should of gotten the type s" but the non-s is pretty mod friendly... start with cai, rh or test pipe with shorty header, kpro, and type-s exhaust system... unless you want aftermarket.. The rsx is superb at handleing so if thats your route i say try that out... if you want to go fast.. turbo or sc it and be happy beating lots of cars on the road
Oh and K-pro is your best friend but also a costly one

yeup, love the Dc5's! I won't bother doing a header though, I'm going FI and doing a turbonetics A/r .60 turbo so it would be money wasted. Yea, my civic was capable of beating Ls1's as well as Porsche 911 turbo's so I def think with the k20a3 I'll be able to do that again and then some! I'm looking more into Hondata due to a local tuner that uses it most and tunes well. I'm looking into the Greddy Sp2 exhaust system for a clean/stock look with great tone and decent HP gains.

for your suspension.. if you can aim towards like apexi coils or cusco.. better yet.. buddy clubs coilovers.. that would be a lovely decision to get...
this kid is a flake!!
i was trying to get ahold of him for days because I was leaving on a Monday for NY to pick up the car cause I was interested in buying it. He wouldn't return any of my messages! So I headed out for Albany and then he sends me an email saying "oh I traded it in for an RSX, because I don't think it would have made you as happy as you thought." some bullshit like that. And then I look at his thread afew days later and hes still trying to sell it!! you're a complete flaker!!! no bumpage for you,

lowballing you!? i think 7500 was decent for that car. you started spitting some bullshit at me about how the fenders and sideskirts looked like **** and needed to be repainted. you made no sense when you were talking about it: saying you had it mapped on 93 and 112 octane and thats it, then you said you had a 93 octane map. after that you started bullshitting about what kind of numbers you were making-- and i HIGHLY doubt you made 300+whp on a turbo that size. plus you said you had it dynoed and then you said you didnt. that it just had a "good street tune". yeah i bumped the civic cause it looked good and thats why i liked it. youre such a flake, band geek.

wow, talk about drama queen, Actually, It's Orch Dork for your information trailer trash and I never once said I had it dynoed. I said it was street tuned. I told you it was tuned when I was running 93 octane and I've driven it before with Cam-2 (112 octane). I never claimed of making 300whp, I said its pretty damn close to being that at around 14lbs of boost but never really claimed my numbers for it never being dynoed. And as for the side skirts, I took them off and replaced them with OEM side skirts as seen in my pictures. Are you ******* blind? I also told you that the bumper would have to be painted. So that makes the fenders in bad shape as well I guess?!?!?
Seriously, Stick a tampon up your **** and get over it. The motor was worth over $4,000 and you'd pay me for a shell with all other mods done to it at $3,500. HAH, you disgust me. Get over it. I also had a lein on it so that means I'd be making no money off it and losing a whole lot. Seriously, bring the High School drama bullshit to the Civic thread or to Cardomain.com cuz I, nor anyone else wants to listen to you bitch and complain like well, a little bitch.
oh and way to stick to topic. You should be deducted points for not sticking to topic on my thread.
