how to check timing?
ok i have an advance inductive timing light from sears that has a dial from 0-60 on the back. if my label under the hood says the timing needs to be at 18 degrees, do i just set the **** at 18 degrees and adjust the distributor untill it matches the strobe?

Set it at zero and use the timing marks to the left of the
TDC mark on the crank pulley..
The one in the center of the three marks.
Make sure to jump the service connector before attemping to set..

or, set the light to 18 and use the TDC mark (one by itself to the right of the three together)

At work I usually just set the timing gun to the advanced reading the label under the hood list and use the white line on the crank pulley either way it doesnt matter if the gun is set at zero your just watching the red line on the distributer
