ok so i know some of you read my ignition thread for a d16 and how it has been or was giving me ****. Well it didnt fix the problem which is as follows: I can give it 100% throttle in second gear and make 1.1 bar of boost and it pulls like a raped ape, but as i shift into third right as it hits about 1 bar (as shown by peak and hold on the avc-r) at around 6000rpm the car feels as if i hit a wall and violently jerks, either like a rev cut or something, more and more i am thinking its wheelhop now but when i take it 4rth gear and floor it this issue happens much early at like 5400rpm and 1.1bar of boost, and not to mention is doesnt happen all the time just the majority...
so in trying to fix this "rev cut" issue i bought a brand new OEM dizzy, cap, rotor, the works thinking it was ignition related, same thing happens. I also replaced my lower control arm bushings with energy suspension ones. Now it happens slightly later in the powerband and with slightly more psi around 1.1 bar again. I have tried gapping down the plugs from .03 all the way down to around .015 and the same thing still happens this is with brand new BKR7e's.
I have no idea what the issue could be, compression and leak down are great and the motor runs fine the rest of the time, and i really dont think its a problem with the motor. So what do you guys think, my motor is a fully built d16z6 with a 57 trim t3/t04e if that helps at all

But, according to your post your problem improved when you replaced the bushings? Maybe the clutch is slipping and your hitting your rev limiter?

defiantly not hitting the rev limiter, which is 8200rpm at this point, and the peak and hold on the avc-r is only reading to around 6500. If i go in partial throttle it wont do it, i really am thinking its more and more wheelhop...

3rd maybe not... but def 4th gear.
Have you tried lowering your boost and doing pulls? Start off with around 8psi and work your way up so you can factor out other contributing factors.
.015 is a bit small... I would try around a .025 gap and see if that helps.

well i regapped them at .025 and yea it will pull all the way to redline at anything under 13psi, and at the higher psi it does the same in 4rth gear
So when you hit anything higher than 16psi it does what exactly? Be specific. What EMS are you running? Did you decide to up the boost after the tune or was it tuned for 16psi?

It is tuned all the way up to 28 psi lol, tuned for 94 octane up to 20psi and i am on that map. I will be doing a pull lets say in 3rd gear at 16psi or 1.1 bar, and i will have the car at WOT (100% says the avc-r), right after it hits full boost, about 200-300rpm higher it will shake violently, my cd player will skip. Now if i lower the boost to lets say 13psi and go WOT it will go all the way to redline without a hitch...
ohh and i am running cromepro, and no its not the boost cut its set at 22psi

a/f is right at 11.8:1, and timing has been pulled quite a bit and its 15* total timing it was at 18* before and the same thing was happening, that was the first thing i changed just to make sure...
Im having the same trouble! But sometimes if im luckey it will pull all the way to redline...i was doing 20psi, but i bumped it back down to 14 (spring) and its still doing the same thing...misfiring like a ****....i replaced cap and rotor....today i borrowed my buddies msd cap and external coil...same thing! I guess my ignitor is shot!....i was using 10 heat range plugs... bump them down to 8 heat range...i gapped them at .015...
Im about to give up and go M&W pro 10....getting to frustrated to mess with stock crap anymore...
Im guessing people who tune on stock ignition got really luckey of having a good stock ignitor, coil, rotor and cap...cuz i have tried 3 and they all do the same thing...one kept up for a week on 20 psi, then it started to misfire after that...

Which D series do you have? Is your base timing 12deg or 16deg? Is your base timing via chrome sync'd up with the dizzy timing?
What plug gap were you running when you tuned it for 28psi? What was the last thing you did before this issue came up?

I dont think its the timing...its ignition related, if he was able to pull 28 psi before for a while and all of sudden misfire...its the ignition...

i just replaced the entire dizzy with a brand new OEM one, I have a d16z6, and base timing has been sync'd with crome at 16*, I had bkr7e's gapped at .028 before. This started happening before but my ignitor was going bad (tach was going crazy) so like i said i replaced everything...

I agree... just going over the basics.

well lots of people said i should be okay with stock ignition so i left it and we all know how good oem stuff usually is so i thought why not...
but so we have ruled out wheelhop?
