ef crx constantly cutting out!
dang last week i sold my delsol and brought a mint uk crx vt (has the b16a as standard)
anyway its been running fine until 3 days ago when at around 3000/4000 rpm she decided to refuse to run over those revs, she stuttered badly and missfired but it would not rev higher than 4000. we got it to our workshop and she became a non starter, or rarther she would start then die within a few seconds if running.
it turns out the battery was shot as well as the immoboliser and the dizzy (basicly we removed the immoboliser, put in a brand new battery and a new dizzy)
now she runs but we are still getting the cutting out problem ?! sometimes she will start and run fine, others she will start, stutter instantly then cut out!
we have checked the main relay for dry joints and i cant see any at all, i need my car back on the road asap. the other thing is the idle seems low, it idles around 500rpm rarther than 750 rpm +/-50rpm. could this be the cause of the cutting out?

seems like u know what ur lookin for but have u checked for codes? is ur iacv plugged in? did you check the compression of the motor when you bought it?
no ecu codes, tbh i wish there were because it would point me right away to what is likely wrong
anyway would low compression in cylinders cause it to run for x ammount of time before cutting out like it is? the engine is on a fair bit (152000) but it doesnt smoke or burn oil, and it feels like it has the dynoed 161hp the previous owner got on it, plus the head looks immaculiate (no bronzine at all) its tappy but im guessing its down to worn LMA`s in the head.
iacv is plugged in as is every other sensor, air filter is clean etc.
its deffinatly a fueling problem as it always seems to be sparking, the main relay i checked had no dry joints but it could be a faulty part inside the relay itself.

yes if cuts the electrical feed to ur fuel pump. on these cars the main relay is very weak and needs to be replaced. but the ususal symthoms for this would be that your car would not start in after turned of. u have to wait a while.

ya it was the farking main relay!
i re-soldered every joint (my soldering is below avrage but i made sure i got good connections) and it started, ran, and has not cut out once so far today :D
happy that i can drive my car and feel my vtec at 5000rpm again :D
