Default Opinion on if this CRX is worth it?

Hi, I am trying to get back into a crx but want to make a wise decision.

The car for sale is a 1989 CRX Si with unknown mileage.

Pros:

1) The car has a D16z6 swap converted to OB1 (out of 95 ex civic)
2) All disc brakes around
3) alarm with keyless entry
4) Interior is complete and clean accept for some tears indriver seat
5) Exterioris clean accept one side is primered while the other side is glossy black
6) Shortshifter and tranny shifts cleanly no grinds

Cons:

1) One side of car is primered black
2) Air Heating control is cracked (common) but does not work at all
3) Sunroof motor is out
4) Has loud after market exhaust, kind of ricey
5) Glove box is missing
6) Temp gauge as well as odometer on cluster is out, probably need a new one

These are the major pros and cons of the vehicle. The asking price is 1800.00 which is what i negotiated. Without having any pictures, do you guys think this would be a fair value for the car. I like the car a lot but I do wonder if this is the right purchase.

Thanks.

well, since your first con is that half the car is a different color...SO WHAT?! rattle can that **** back to one color and call it good till you can afford a real paint job...or just drive it how it is...its got a better motor and its in good shape, i'd buy the hell out of it for 1800....and a decent rex is hard to come buy these days....

sounds like to much for me. you can get a really clean CRX for around 3k with nice paint, good interior and usually a really decent swap. by the time you fixed what is wrong with that you'd have like 4-5k into it unless you just rattle can it black if you like that look... I do not myself.

i wouldn't buy it, you need a new exhaust, new heating controls, sunroof motor, glove box, new cluster, and a new paint job.

don't be impatient and buy the first one you find, there has got to be a better one out there.

hmm a good paint job is 2k unless your go for a crappy macco... so with the 1800 price you're already at 3800

if u know someone that paints cars and knows how to do it well, i'm pretty sure u can find somewhere to get it done n strike a deal for 500 bux....its only half of the car in its going to be the same color. The other parts could be found at a good junk yard for pretty good prices...

yeah but it is a 17 year old car he prolly dosent want a show quality paint job. u can get a nice paint job for 800 bux. and the rest of the parts for less than 100 bux. and have a nice crx for under 2800 bux. buy that ****
these things are getting hard to find

Sounds like a great race car and a terrible street car.

ok 1st it all depends on what you are planing to do with this car. your probably wanting something that is going to be fast and nice since the first thing you commented on the car was the d16z6 motor. if the motor looks like it was installed good, and is running good then maybe it isnt a bad buy. find out how long the engine has been in the car, how many miles, etc...ask all the questions so you know your getting a good swap.

2nd of all the car can always be painted, and yes in different areas pricing is different...you need to look at your resources, find someone that you know that will paint the car for you cheap(maybe a friend that can help you or something).

3rd thing is the interior problems. you can find interior parts off of ebay everyday. so i wouldnt worry to much about them.

If it was me then no i wouldnt buy the car. you can find a clean rex shell for cheap and put the swap in yourself for cheaper than 1800....because i hate buying a car that already has a swap done, you just dont know enough about it.

I hope this has helped you in your choice instead of turning this thread into a fight about the price of paint.

good luck
