Timing belt question for em1...

Default Timing belt question for em1...

How often should the timing belt be changed on these motors? Im coming from owning 2 dsm's, so Im a little **** when it comes to timing belts.

i think honda recommends every 100K miles

you can also do a visual check on it by removing the valve cover and see how tense it is, if its fraying and so on...

All hondas are recommended to change them @ 90k intervals. Be sure to change the water pump at the same time, even if it isn't needed....will help later down the road.

I personally wouldn't trust the check method. A belt can look alright one oil change and then the next be screwed.

This is correct 90k. People have gone longer and had no problems, I personally have seen my friends sisters civic go to 150k before it was changed. Just depends on how the car is driven also I belive.
