I/H/E just seem to be the FIRST things people do to get performance, but do they REALLY make a noticeable difference?

I know letting the engine breath easier is always better, BUT for the price of I/H/E on my stock engine I'm halfway to a swap! Most wind up having to sell of their bolt ons when they do a swap anyway.

BTW, I'm gonna rebuild my D16A6 bone stock or replace it with another one, gotta have reliability and gas mileage on the daily driver. If I want to race I'll break out the 1980 AMC Spirit! (350hp Chevy 327, runs low 12's, gets 9 mpg )

i/h/e on a sohc could get you anywhere from 7-10 whp with unusual cases on both sides. all of this, if new, should cost around 400-500 bux. or you could get a zc for 400 bux and gain 20-30 whp....

Save up for the swap, although I/H/E did lop off nearly a second off my 0-60 and 1320.

I can re-use my intake and exhaust so that wasn't money wasted.

The only one of the three that I would spend any real money on would be the header. I personally would go with custom exhaust and a generic intake. You will save yourself some cash and still have comporable performance. I know that the AEM cold air is said to be the best but how much better is it really. Same with the exhaust I can't justify spending 550 on a cat back when I can have one custom made for 250 - 300. Just my opinion. By the way if you plan on staying stock buying these things won't be a waste.
