Check out the new project car: del Sol!
Hey everyone. I guess this is sort of my intro/start on H-T.
1994 del Sol Si (SOHC vtec)
This is my first car (well, almost first. First NICE car we'll say). I bought the shell from a friend exactly as you see it here, for a STEAL of a price. Absolutely no problems, or accidents. MINT.......almost. Interior= 6.5/10
While not blowing motors, this car PREVIOUSLY was daily driven and a weekend track monster (road courses). Mods are/were mostly Track oriented. This car handles incredibly well (considering it was daily driver)!!
With guidance and help from my older brother (spcrxracer), my car will hopefully be like Anakin Skywalker before the Darkside: one of the most powerful Jedi ever (or perhaps misread the prophecy has been??).
Enough dorky Star Wars references.
The car came with a TON of goodies, not all of which are pictured.
To name a few:
-Hondata s200
-Greddy EVO exhaust
-FULL suspension (tokico 5-ways, tein s-tech springs & all strut/sway/tie bars)
-OZ superleggera 15x7 rims (light-weight 10.5lbs, forged)
-Factory floor mats!
Can you spot the goodies??

Getting 'flat-bedded' home:

Next to my brother's beastly CRX (semi-DD/weekend racer).

Lookin up her skirt:

FRONT BRAKES:

REAR BRAKES:

ENGINE BAY: see them goodies?

I know, they need some 'reconditioning'

More goodies in the trunk:

That was the main reason I purchased it. My brother has a complete bone-stock (for now) JDM B16A sitting around, that came in his CRX when he bought it. He swapped that out for something else.
He initially was going to sell it. But then decided not to, and saved it for me.
That was about a year or so ago, and it's just been sitting since. I'm lucky I have such a cool big brother.
Right now I want to stick all motor. All throttle, no bottle! I/we are going to build it N/A. Nothing too crazy though.
To quote my brother, quoting the Late Great RANDY GAGAN (RIP):
"'I like to keep everything OEM Honda. I don't want to keep it stock, but I also don't like to add anything aftermarket to it unless it's related to Honda, like Spoon or Mugen. I know there are companies that can make better products, but I want everything factory made. To me, it's more reliable.'"
"'Other people like to go all out and spend crazy money on performance parts, but down the line, who knows if it will break down on them? I like to go crazy on my car, too, but I want to make sure the engine will continue to run smooth as time goes on.'"

Nothing too hard. I think the hardest part, is that my brother is going to teach/show/make me do all of the work. He says "That way YOU will understand how much time/effort/sweat/blood/tears/heart/soul goes into building this thing. That way you'll think twice about doing something stupid in it."
We could just drop in the motor, and we're done. It came with EVERYTHING, and I mean everything to install the motor. But as long as it's out, might as well do/build the stuff now.
We got all of his parts, including his blown motor, which is a 2.0L JDM B18C benson sleeved block. The head is garbage, unfortunately. But there's some bolt-on's were salvaging from it.
I am almost certain we wont be using the block though. It blew due to clearances being off (valves hit pistons). The block itself is fine, just the pistons and rods are trash.

So your "weekend track monster Del Sol" with it's Tokico Illuminas and Tein S-Techs and it's "NA B16" is your weapon of choice, hmmm? If I knew your big brother I'd punch him in the dick for letting you be so naive.
I thought the stech's were the sort of "street lowering spring" kinda like an h&r sport or something.
i bet it does handle pretty good for a comfortable daily

Don't forget the ****-tastic underinflated Toyo FZ4 all-seasons and the drilled 9.5" Tenzo rotors.

everyone starts somewhere, if hes posting it here its already a good start, BUT that suspension is very soft and comfortable, it has NOTHING to do with a track suspension, its a very good daily suspension for ppl who actualy dont want to break their necks...
does your car have a frt sway bar? and whats the rear, look pretty beaffy.. 22mm? might want to buy a subframe reinforcement

give the kid a break its his first car and to be honest it looks like most of the work is done ..........dont let em get you down build it to what you want it to be
You guys are being a little hard on this kid. Everyones gotta start somewhere. At least you have a good start but if it was me I would do a little more than just a b16. You could def use the parts off the b16 to peice a motor together. Just go find a nice b18 block and put together a little build throw in a mild cam and you got a good first motor.
why does everybody gotta rip so hard. the kids excited for christ sake. can't anyone remember back when they might have sounded like this about their car. do you think everyone gives a **** how much you like your car?...no but they don't *** rape you for it. give the guy a break. your brother sounds like a good dude, good luck with your car.
I get to play the older brother part that your brother is playing now, it's definitely a rewarding experience.
for your bro.
Have fun building your car, just get rid of those Tein's.

Guys..guys...guys...I may sound harsh but COME ON!! A N/A B16?!?! I doubt this kid has an endless amount of cash flow in the bank account or a sponsor.....so its time we bring him back to reality. Don't worry back den i use to ask question like " How much TRQ can I gain with a $500 worth of Mods for my JDM B16".
