Default Whining,Supercharger, tranny?belts? Searched Already Plz Help.

ok so recently just finished working on my car. and there is a whining noise sounds like a getto supercharger. i searched all 4pages, now my question is if it were to be the tranny would it still make that supercharger noise or is it a different kind of whining?

Also i already re-did my timing belt and alt belt. and i dont have PS.

thanks guys.

Did you do anything other than the t-belt and the alt belt? Tension is verified to be correct?

You're sure it's mechanical and not coming from your stereo?

Don't laugh...a friend of mine spent 3 weeks trying to find the whine in his teg. I fixed it when I tightened the ground for the amp he had on the door speakers.

well i used to have a ls-v in my 99 si then i just swapped out the block and put a 1.6 in there to sell the car but i didnt have the whining noise b4.

im not sure the tension is correct ive done every thing the same as ive built all the other 3-4 motor ive built and this is the only one making this noise.

and no i tried it with the radio off not the speakers.

reminds me of the mischief movies, in one of the bonus scenes they are whippin shitties in a beamer (think it was an m5) and his power steering goes out and when he got on is it sounded like a ghetto supercharger. I'm guessing your ps is still working though?

is the noise there when at idle? Does it increase when you drive? Does it increase when you tap the gas but leave it in nuetral? This would help to diagnose what it could be.

check your belts, alternator etc and tensioners? Could be coming from a faulty tensioner

Is your camshaft seizing up? This will affect your timing belt tension.

calm down...you asked for more help. You need to give a little more info. To help locate whats making the sound it would help to know if the noise is present or changes/gets louder or dissappears in these conditions. Sometimes when a TOB is starting to go the noise will dissapear with slight pressure on the clutch pedal. Not always though....my TOB is screaming right now whenever my car is turned on and will probably have to be towed to the shop(since my clutch was just done 1,500miles ago). Howeve the noise did go away with slight pressure at first (1 1/2 weeks ago). If it's a belt the noise will usually change when you give it gas with the increase in belt speed. And yea works on car was a dumb statement..probably best not to post when I had a couple a beers.

Also if the noise isn't there at idle, isn't there when the gas is tapped in nuetral but you can hear it only in gear while moving I would think it might be the trans. Were does the noise sound like it's coming from? Can you hear it from underneath the car were the trans is sitting or does it sound like it's comming from the engine bay?

i am calm i just dont think u should jump to conclutions about why i havnt responded to you askin becuz ur a new member for more help maybe i was busy with a personal problem or family emergency. i dont sit behind ht like most/some member here on ht. but i do appreciate the help.

i dont know how old the belt is i found it lying around the garage that mite be it. and the noise does change when i give it alil gas seems to get less then more as idle drops and raises and vise versa.

it doesnt sound like to be the trans cuz ive had trans problem b4 doesnt seem like a trans...

...and also if ur gonna drink, dont drink alone share.

no problem...probably just a belt. I switched to goodyear gatorback noslip belts in my car and it sounds like a procharger. These belts make a funny noise compared to my old gates. might just be a worn belt. Worn/differnt belts make noises sometimes.

didnt work...would my oil pump make a noise like a super charger or is that only a noise a belt would make? or could it be something else?

try taking off all of the accessory belts. It will run with the alternator not spinning long enough for you to tell if the noise is def from the t-belt area.

EDIT: reading ownz me

How many miles are on the water pump? how about the tensioner pulley?
