Default How secure, and how much $$$?

Is there a system out there that can prevent any possible theft of a vehicle except by means of towing? As in a total lockdown of all systems? If so, how reliable is that? I know some systems screw up and lockdown the vehicle on the owner for no aparent reasons. I would like to find one that can work in conjunction with a keyless start system.

Thanks for the help.

nope. none at all...

the best with car security is to layer it...

ur primary layer is any visual deterants...

anything that makes ur car "look" like its harder to steal is a start

a good alarm system is basically ur secondary layer... it makes noises, and attracts attention of innocent passer-by-ers, and if u have a paging one notifies you if ur in range...

the third layer should be passive kill switches... normally open fuel cut off relays should do the trick...

u can layer on more kill switches.. however if u have a remote start unit, the remote start has to then disable those.....

and i read somewhere, if u unplug and plug in a remote start unit, it basically starts the car for you...i may be wrong about that tho...

-------
u can be creative and use the extra channel outs of ur alarm to disable the extra kill switches, then press the remote start button.. but i think that could get annoying...

eh its really up to you tho..

ditto that, But you can disable a car to a point were it won't start. The key factor is how much you are going to spend on labor and how deep are your pockets. And how good the alarm install is. I done a car were the customer had the club. foot lock. They bi-passed all of that, But it was the attention to detail on the alarm install that saved his car, He ended up having to buy a new headunit and ignition cylinder. But his car was still there. Act it was in the middle of the street. They gave up on trying to start it. If you have a remote start its a rare chance if you unplug and plug it. It will start. Most alarms should have a back up battery installed with them. This will isolate your alarm from the car battery.

The closest thing to what you're looking for is a tracking system. That alone wont stop them from stealing the car, but it greatly enhances your chances of getting it back quickly and having them go to jail.

No sham to this plug, Yea tone it down with the leds, In my 94-up teg I have the dei, hyper blue leds in each door right at the covers for the side mirrors inside the car. and one in the hatch were the brake light is. They are real visiable and draw alot of attention. sometimes unwanted because I been at starbucks and seen people walk up on it to look at it. Hey but it looks real cool thou. But I not worried they can't get it lol

Well, lojack is already installed on the car, im not sure exactly how effective that is. The proximity thing sounds a bit strong.... I just want it where if they break in, the car wont get more than 100yds on its own two wheels.

is your car a teg, I would check to see were they placed the lo-jack. Most of the time its in a stupied location were all the theives know, and they check, I re-located mine in a spot were they would not be-able to get to. Make sure you have permission from lo-jack to move it. Look around your car and if its easy to find bet your bippy the crooks are gonna find it.

he has a new 06' civic...

if honda hasn't changed much of the layout...

try looking for your lojack unit...

a great place to hide or put it is where it takes 5-10mins to access it to service it....

---------

2-3mins to remove seats
2-4mins to remove side panels...
etc...etc...

Good, you have the lojack. That will get you your car back. Now add an alarm to decrease the chances that it will be taken at all.

Thanks for the help.</TD></TR></TABLE> A good "brand-name" 2way paging alarm/remote start installed properly with a "stand alone" passive "kill" switch, [latching relay] should do the job.

Your 06 already has the transponder key anti theft system, [cuts off fuel pump I believe] so install the alarms starter kill, and install the passive kill switch on the injectors power relay, and as has been mentioned, the passive kill switch, [latching relay] will have to be "latched" by the remote start, [not a problem, use "status" output line] along with the bypass module that would have to be used on the cars OEM immobilizer, [transponder anti theft system]. 94

Not if its a sh$ty location, many tegs and cicvs, never make it back with lo-jack, esp the older lo-jack. I hope yo have the newer system with early warning system.

A good alarm with a good starter kill will do wonders.

If someone wants my car they need a tow truck.
