Default GT35R in a Civic

So i'm thinking about building a eg6 but i want to use a gt35r turbo on a built type R motor. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I needed to top mount the turbo and would the gt35R fit in a eg6 engine bay

The ITR motor is an excellent foundation to boost, don't listen to old school mentality, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

If you run a top mount, you may have to slightly trim the underhood webbing (depending on the positioning of the turbo based on the manifold).

Here's a pic of a slightly bigger turbo, top mounted, on an ITR motor in an EH.
The highest point of the housing is where it may slightly touch, especially if you're using stock mounts.

Thats so stupid....How do you figure a built gsr bottom will cost the same as a stock motor he already has? Plus a built bottom doesnt make more power,,its just that it can handle more power........

yea it'll fit, and it'll be damn quick too
high compression motors are fine with boost (obviously being built helps, as well as getting a good tune). More HP per psi ftw

my brothers R handled boost so well. it never blew up even when it was stock and put down 303whp/192tq on 8psi. now that he built the bottom end (i.e pistons rods sleeves) he now has 481whp/298tq on 17psi.

none-the-less the B18C5 loves boost! dont let anybody tell you different.

as with any boost build (but especialy with a higher compression motor like the type r) engine management / tuning is the most crucial part of the build when it comes to how it will perform. that being said, that combination with the proper accompanying mods should easily take you into the 12s.

Sweet bamboozle look at the turbo

Turbo is nice but I have more respect for a guy that runs a 10sec in the 1/4 all motor (I've seen it done).

On the other hand, I have more respect for circuit racing because a small monkey can learn to drag but a circuit course requires more skill. I'm not "drag bashing" or anything they both are respectable crafts but shouts out to anyone who's ever ran a course at Willow Springs in California

Did the poster ask anything about respect????
No you do not need a top mount manifold, you could save your money and go with a good cast or turbular ramhorn style manifold.

Yup, you don't need a top mount to run a gt35r, but it looks nice when u do. imo.
