MLS gasket for d16a6
http://www.cometic.com/ should do the job, but if you're blowing HGs on an H4 motor, you may have other issues to fix first?
Gaskets are open, so any head gasket that fits should be legal. The Y8 gasket may be a good option if it's a direct fit. The one I used on my CRX came from http://www.goldeneaglemfg.com. It only got used for 4-5 weekends, but I never had a problem with it.

I don't believe the Y8 headgasket is a direct fit. With the Y8 gasket it will bump your compression up some. I'm pretty sure the Y8 is a 3 layer gasket. I got my 3layers MLS headgasket for $30 from Icon PM composimo if you are interested.
The compressed thickness is important in Tom's case because his head is already milled to the compression limit for the class. If his head gasket's compressed thickness is less than the stock A6 gasket, he'll be over the legal limit for the class. I'll see if I can find the info on the stock gaskets online somewhere.

Are you using the stock composite head gasket (12251-PM5-S02) or are you using the updated metal gasket (12251-P01-004) per TSB 97-047 which applies to 88-95 Civic All, except VTEC?

Thank you, that is the one I was looking for. I have been using the composite, I want the metal one. Thanks Hammond.

I'm running a stock after market replacement head gasket on my D16A6 and compression reads 250-265psi without any problems. Something may be up with your head or block surfaces.

I had a timing issue that was causing some detonation with the head being milled, but I have solved that problem now. I just want the metal gasket when I reassemble.
